I got it from a performance shop in my area and it was $49 CDN but you can get it from Rock Auto cheaper then I can.

I would have ordered it from R.A. but they want too much for shipping to Canada ($26)

RA wants $12.50 USD (plus shipping)

Yeah I think I'm going to see if I can find a shop in Buffalo that sells them retail because we are getting screwed up here...

I put the other Diesel filter on and took the one off that I have driven around for 1,000 miles (1600KM's) already and cut it open.

There was some metal filings in the filter and some fine fine clutch residue stuck to the screen.

Nothing I could take a good picture of or too hard to take a picture of but I would highly recommenced even just this cheap diesel filter for all applications because of what I saw.

I can't wait to drain out all the ATF this weekend and install the WIX filter and refill with all new Redline D4 fluid.

Should me an excellent improvement as I have had the Auto-RX in there for 1600 KM's and I have noticed an improvement in shift quality and the fluid is darkening so I know cleaning is going on.

I would reccomend Auto-Rx and a screen filter or Wix filter to everyone after seeing these results from my transmission which had mostly synthetic its whole life.

Many heavy-duty transmissions like the 5R110 have a built-in bypass filter. I know Jon's F-250 does. It is something like a 1-micron filter, absolutely ridiculous. The one he took out of the truck when he first got it was PITCH black. It kind of reminds me of a TP filter? Very odd looking. And since it is a bypass filter, it has no effect on the volume of fluid the transmission sees.

I've been trying to find out if the same setup is able to be installed on the 4R100.

I have one, and some documentation (from the web), feel free to ask questions. I believe the filter is rated at Beta2=2000 and is made by NTZ.

Can it be installed on the 4R100? I'd LOVE to have one!!!!

Sure you can install it on a 4R100 or anything else with a transmission cooler route ... I think. :) I'm going to try it out on a Subaru.

Last time I checked it was:

FT-152 - $132.50 - Filter Assembly for 5R110W Transmission.
(Includes filter element and magnetic base)
FT-145 - $29.00 - Filter Element (NTZ).
(51mm OD x 11mm ID x 91mm L paper roll)

Beware that there are aftermarket pleated replacement filters that are not equivalent. They bypass too much fluid and have a Beta rating that is nowhere close.

All the juice you could want should be in this:

Just called the local dealer. Prices are:
FT-152 , $107.42
FT-145 , $28.93

Wow, that's gross overkill for a passenger car. The Magnefines on both cars should be adequate. Even that is 10 steps ahead of most people's care for their transmissions.

I don't see how clean oil is 'gross overkill'.

That filter is only supposed to last for 30k kms in the 5R110 transmission. Gross overkill would be a filter that would last longer than the ownership period, i.e. the filter is oversized. Even if this filter lasts twice as long on a smaller vehicle, I don't see that as oversized but an analysis should tell the story.

The TransProtector and Magnefine are underkill in my opinion because they do not filter well enough to keep the system clean.

Improvement? Yes. But clean enough (to prevent wear/damage)? No.

I should also add that the Magnefine is not an equivalent to the TransProtector which again is nowhere near an equivalent to the FT-152.

The Magnefine (pleated) and TransProtector (depth) are both very similar designs and make good use of the magnet but the filter area is too small to do much good for long. The FT-152 uses a magnet in the base-cap but it isn't going to see much fluid flow compared to the other two. From what I've found, I'd guess the Beta75 ratings are something like:

25 micron - Magnefine
15 micron - TransProtector
< 1 micron - FT-152
