My wife has been wanting a karaoke machine for a while now. She's Filipina and this stuff seems to be in her blood. It won't stop...I hear it constantly. "I WANT A KARAOKE MACHINE!" It's driving me nuts.

So, in order to stop the madness and get her a gift for her birthday, I have been looking but haven't come up with anything that is of note.

I am willing to spend 50-250 on the machine. It's worth the piece of mind. Does anyone have any specific machines or any info on a quality machine that she would enjoy?

She would be mostly using this thing when I'm at work.

check Amazon, or Ebay. Amazon is a good place because they have customers rate the products already, and sometimes you can get free shipping. Here, we are just motor heads.

I've looked at Amazon and their recommendations, but I want to get first hand info from some people here.

I realize we are "motor heads" that's why I posted it in the off topic section. :)

Believe me, I know. I've gotten drunk and have been known to try my hand at some Judas Priest or Iron Maiden songs. I have given up singing...that's why I have Rock Band for the Wii. Now I just play drums.

This has to be a really, really, really bad joke. Please tell me that you're not serious. I beg of thee.

LOL.

I'm serious...she wants a karaoke machine. I'm sure someone has one out there. If I have to buy one, I want to buy a good one. I don't want to have to buy one again.

Well, I'd say that it's not unwise to purchase a "get your feet wet" lower end offering to determine the level of enjoyment that she gets out of it. That's how I gauge the worth of (non) ROI on that sorta thing. Some things we buy just to have them sitting there not doing much. We may even pay large for high quality idle stuff. OTOH, I can't, in any way I can measure, regret the first $1500 that I "wasted" on my first home PC. Thousands of hours of use...

So, I'd get something hobby/consumer grade and see how much she uses it and how much enjoyment or frustration she experiences in using it. If she's reaching the limits of the lower end offering ..yet still using it all the time, then it's worth a bigger investment. If she leaves it sitting idle ..then that's as far as you go
