Need some input...VW 1.8TSI

I looked at LSPI issues, which are N/A for German engines, as well as intake deposits which Lubrizol says are mitigated via reduced SAPS oils.

I considered Pennzoil Euro L (no VW cert, lol) as well as Castrol EDGE 0w-40 with Ti, which quenches LSPI. At 8000+ miles a year, inc plenty of short trips, I decided that 2X a year changes were appropriate for the wife's new VW 1.8 TSI.

So reduced-saps would be ok for the 4000-5000 miles changes. Also, we never had a valve deposit issues to worry about before. I do intake spray cleaning of 1/2 can of CRC GDI cleaner every Spring, and a bottle of Redline SI1 and I think the driving style helps too. Intake valves are easy to clean on VW EA888 anyway, a DIY every what....5 years?

Then Castrol EDGE 0w-40 looked like the ticket, but then I saw formula change, the Calcium was back up to 2000 from 1600 and FP is listed at a low +200C...strange.

In the end I decided to go with Pennzoil Euro 0w-40. To complement it, I have a bunch of other old PZUP products I can use up in winter, some 5w30 Ultra and some 0w-40 SRT maybe mixed. Then Pennzoil 0w40 in summer.... no problemo and I'm not worried about LSPI anyway.

NOACK on 0W40 SRT is 13%. It is mediocre oil with fancy name.

It indicates not as sophisticated base oil as 0W40 Euro.

Under 10% would be ideal.

I never saw a volatility number for it anyplace before. Rotella 5w-40 is surprisingly in the same ballpark.

I have 10q I could flip on Craigslist for $60, but my next oil up would be Mobil 1 0w-40 so it's hard to get too excited.

With $60 I could buy something better, like two 5q jugs of PZ Uro 0w-40, lol. The 229.5 spec has never been so comforting.

Going with full year changes in my new Metris.
