So my brother has a 2014 Dodge charger and it has the newer refrigerant r1234yf and he the car was not blowing as cold as it used to, he lives in Florida. He picked up a self service can and somehow added about 1/3 of a can of r134. He said the the connection seemed a bit tight but that some did get in. I read the can and figured out that it was the wrong stuff. So I guess my question is what should he do? Will this ruin his system? can he just have the system vacuumed down and replaced with new r1234yf? Any assistance and or advise would be helpful. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

Mixing refrigerant is a big problem. If he takes it to a shop the machine will test it. When it finds it contaminated it will lock out the machine! Usually takes 3-4 weeks for robinair to come out and reset. Also costs $1000!
In the mean time the shop is losing revenue since the machine is locked out. He needs to take the truck to a shop that has a way of recovering the mixed refrigerant and disposing of it properly which your friend will be on the hook for.

I once tried refilling my F150 with one of those cans and the sealant in the can plugged up the A/C expansion valve, never again will I try any type of at home A/C fix. I'd take it in to an A/C specific shop and explain what happened.

Bubba would just stick a small screwdriver into a charging port valve until all pressure is gone.
A vacuum pump only removes air and water. Does not remove oils or sealants.
I am unfamiliar with the oil in the 1234yf system. Will any of the 134a mix with it and be persistent after a full vacuum, or will it all boil out when the vacuum is pulled?
R134a will mix with the oil used. When you pull a vacuum any refrigerant will boil off.

what you do is you discharge it into a balloon, then lash that balloon to an inflated helium balloon, & set both free.
