we bought this Husqvarna not but about a month ago, its the BEST push mower I have owned! its not self propelled, easy to maintain, its lightweight, and it cuts amazingly...

I dont worry about blades with it either, Old riding lawn tractor blades go on it, I make sure to get every last dime out of blades.. they go from Rider to Push mower, to Scrap Metal Pile, to Money in my pocket at the end of the month when I load up metal to cash in.

My TORO recycler has a Tec motor and its starts three primes every time and doesn't burn a drop. Things have changed since the old Tec's.

No worry if you buy new, Tecumseh is out of business as far as building new engines(end of '08 I believe)... I have a Tec on a lawn vac and it does use some oil, being it's only seven years old and has had fewer than 25 uses(usually only spring and fall), yeah I'm disappointed with it...

In my opinion, Toro makes the best push mower. Build quality is great, they are mostly well designed, and Toro does a great job of supporting their products. Parts availability is good too, even for many older models.

A well cared for Duraforce powered Lawn Boy would be a great find, but new Lawn Boys are nice as well, they just aren't what they used to be. They are green Toros without as many options these days. They are still one of the best choices for a basic push mower though.

If I am at a point where I need to pay for a new push mower, a Toro or Lawn Boy will almost definitely be what I get. The two free mowers I have just keep going though.

Eh, I also mow 5 acres every week on rough terrain in high grass lol, Stupid Florida, it rains and the grass gets like 5 feet high

I bought a troy-bilt high wheel 21inch cut pusher last year with the Honda GCV160. What a great engine! Runs smooth, quiet, and powerful. I cut about an acre a week with it. I can cut about 2/3 an acre on one tank. I swear it cuts better than my previous best pushmower, (a B/S 5.5). I change oil every year with Mobil 10w-30. Next blade I put on it will probably be a heavy duty mulcher. I believe I paid about 190 or just over 200 for it. My only modification is that I added a big fuel filter in line from the tank. Starts on the first pull. I have run everything from 3.5-5.5 briggs in my day, and I have to say, the honda is far and away the best engine I have ever used on a pusher. I am not putting my name out there for troy-bilt, but I will say that any pusher with a GCV160 has a heck of an engine.
