What viscosity is called for in the owner's manual? If your'e going thicker, I'm thinking M1 0w-40 or Castrol 0w-40.
Boutique oils like Redline, Amsoil, and Royal Purple are fine, you wont hear anyone insulting their abilities to protect an engine, most complaints about them are about the price/value of them. I have no doubt that they're good oils, but for the price, I might as well use M1, Pennzoil Platinum, Valvoline SynPower, or any other name brand synthetic. For me and my vehicle I know they'll protect it just fine and it'd cost me less then the "boutique" oils. Since, I'm not willing to push my oil change intervals out to 15k miles or more, those expensive oils aren't a good value to me, so I'll stick with more readily available synthetic oils that I can get locally.
If the value, or lack there of, is no concern to you, then you can go ahead and use Redline, Amsoil, or Royal Purple with confidence. Like I said, it's the price/value that people have an issue with, not with the oil's ability to lubricate and protect.
