I have used Mobil 1 since GM recommends it in my 2008 Corvette. I have seen a lot of hype about other brands. Any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with M1, it's a top shelf product. You can certainly try Pennzoil Ultra/Platinum or Valvoline Synpower. or stick with M1. All will work well in your vette.

If you're looking at off-the-shelf stuff, Mobil 1 is generally about as good as it gets. There may be some advantages to other brands, but they will be minimal at best, and there's no way to know unless you try for yourself -- which, despite what the Internet might have you believe, actually takes a lot of effort to do right.

If you drive your car like most Corvette owners do, then all you need is an oil that meets the right GM spec (I believe it's 4718M). Brand doesn't matter so much. Can't go wrong with Mobil 1 since they're the factory partner, but the spec is designed so that any oil that meets it will be fine.

It's what I do until someone posts two and three dollar per quart oil sales/rebates. If it's got your GM spec use whatever is easy to find. The last couple of months we have seen M1 go from ~$23.00 to 28.00, and up to $35.00 at autozone, so every little bit helps.
