some cars (like the 99 Accord) have two pesky little philips screws that hold the rotor on. and of course they tend to seize in place, making them almost impossible to remove without stripping them.

any tricks for this? I've tried PB Blaster, but no go. am thinking about one of those impact drivers you hit with a hammer. or can i just drill them out and be done with them for good?

impact driver you hit with a hammer!!!!
if the phillips one doesn't work, slot them using a dremel and then use the straight slot.

Yes, the impact screwdriver is made for this type of stuff. Get one for your tool box.

1 or 2 nice whack with an impact screwdriver and off that screw go.

I just did that to my dad's 7th gen civic over the weekend and serviced all 4 brakes (front disc replaced with cheapo "Jasper" rotors... 4 screws came off easily.

I'm gonna' have to go with the impact screwdriver on this, no matter what the udder kids say.

Of course, one could always use the "sacrifice" phillips and just use a plain old scredriver to beat upon to assist in loosening the metal-to-metal bondage. Takes discipline to break that bondage. Don't wanna' hit the non-impact screwdriver so hard the handle breaks, sending near-lethal fragments across the void to impact with eyes and skin.

I would try the old spare phillips first but the smart kids would likely buy an impact-type for safety's sake.
