Need Gas Can Spout part #.

Don’t you just love it when you get used to using something and then the government says you cannot have that any more?

The gas can in the picture is made by Midwest can Company and is model #1100. the spot is long and flexible and it makes pouring gas easy but now I can not buy a replacement spout.

Yes I know I am a few years late but I just found out about this “CARB” law.

It's a shame but I don't believe you'll find any new stock replacement spouts because of the current round of EPA regulations on gas cans. It's pretty much toss it and go new. I know I cherish my ~13yr/old plastic 5 gal can with a similar spout to yours. Big bucks I know, but search "5gal metal gas can" on eBay if you want a really good can with a long flexible spout.

The first CARB compliant cans I tried were ridiculous. There was almost no way to dispense gas without also wetting down the entire vicinity. There are some decent ones now that don't make such a mess, but they are still harder to use than the old pre-CARB style. I don't think you'll find any new cans like that one pictured except outside of the U.S., where they are readily available. Take a trip down to Mexico and I bet you'll find some. I wonder if you can buy the old style in Canada still? I can't say that it is legal or a good idea, but there are some water jugs with decent spouts made that look identical to gas jugs except for the blue color. Is the plastic OK for gasoline? I don't know.

Check out the Blitz Enviro-Flo Plus line of cans. I have a couple and they aren't bad. The flexible spout is skinny and short, but it is as close to your old one as I have seen. There is a trigger that holds the gas back until you release it. I actually prefer the Blitz Self-Venting version with the stiff neck. I find it is easier to pour.

My auto-off spout needs manual activation both on and off. Its design doesn't fit my auto gas tank so I cut the bottom off an old FI cleaner bottle to use as a funnel. When done fueling the leftover gas evaporates off my funnel into the atmosphere, just what they don't want happening.

And if you think I'm done complaining, the wider diameter of the smog nozzle makes it hard to see into my briggs gas tank, making it easier to overflow and spill all over the mower deck.

New style Bllitz Cans, they also make a 1 gallon. I sure am glad I bought two of their old 5 gallon style with the fixed spouts and no CARB valve!

I'm going to say something and I'll tell you right now it's going to sound like pure white trash, but I don't care.

You should do what I do: Keep an eye out for old gas cans set out with people's garbage. The can is often dryrotted or otherwise busted, but often the spout is good. Lay down your pride and pick up the old gas can!

I usually find the opposite--the spout and/or cap fails before the can rots out. One thing I like about the Blitz products is that you can usually find replacement spouts and caps for sale.

Dang new things spill more gas than the old ones ever did! "Hey, this works great...let's change it"! My father in law has a spount I've been eyeballing. He suggests that it's not worth my life though. I've seen them on EBay, but who new they came in so many sizes? I wonder if the EPA knows?!?

Being the cheapskate that I am, I sometimes bring an empty 5 gallon can to MO to get gas since I'll be getting gas anyway and gas is $0.15 to $0.20 cheaper per gallon than in IL. I find the new blitz enviro-pro works well as the lid for transport.

I have four 5 gallon cans and keep them for a generator fuel stash and rotate them so none have gas older than about 30 days.

I kept my old blitz one-piece filler nozzles to use to fill as it's tough to hold the can open AND hold a 5 gallon can as I pour that fuel into a car, (usually the 2002 Camry used by my step-son.) But then I put the Enviro-Pro lid back on as I found the new Enviro-Pro nozzle seals better for transport.

I bought a lot of the old style replacement spouts just as they were being phased out a few years ago. I use 'em until they break. I hate the new style gas cans -- they suck..

YOUCH! 37 dollars! I guess I'll live with what I have.

Cheaper than a speeding (reloaded) bullet!
More thrifty than a second hand store!
Able to squeeze hundreds of uses from dryer sheets!
Look, up in the frequent flyer mile section!

It's a miser...it's a penny pincher...no, it's CHEAPO MAN!

If your ever in Canada, canadian tire sells a flexible spout for 3.99. No valve no nothing, a flexible spout with a screw on cap for the tip.
