I haven't been a member here very long so there's not as much information about my '88 Ford Escort with 506K miles (original engine and transmission, never been rebuilt) on this site as there is on some of the other sites I visit, but I found out the other day that Wayne Gerdes (site owner) and some of the other members over at www.cleanmpg were trying to persuade Ford Motor Company into giving me a Ford Fiesta for my Escort. I would appreciate anyone's help in contacting Ford, maybe the more notifications they receive about this car the more curiosity it will stir up with Ford. Personally I think it would be good advertising for Ford and good for customer relations. Thanks for your help!!

Congrads on making 506k miles with your Escort.

I personally (and please don't take it personal) think Ford owes you a new car because you took their old one to 1/2 million miles.

Maybe a t-shirt and if they make a commercial like Toyota used to do with all the high mileage owners you can get in it.

But a new vehicle?

Sorry.

Take care, Bill

Huh, I had a few ford in recently with over 700k on them. I do commend you for working hard to make your car last you, but I don't feel it's a fit to give cars away for it.

There are many of these stories on the 500k club. I mean it's a ford I expect all ford properly maintained to last 500K

Several car manufacturers have produced vehicles that have/had a reputation for lasting a long time. Some have taken advantage, and used good examples for advertising.
I don't think Ford are likely to give you a new car, But some Ford Dealer may give you a loaner while they put your car on display.
I alawys thought in cases like this manufacturers should issue car badges or plaques to advertise their high millage examples.

Seniority is worth something unless someone is real sick and everyone else is not available...

I have to agree with all of the above. Heck, I had a customer that put 1-million on a Chevrolet truck, GM said that's nice and Shell/Pennzoil gave him some clothing, free oil, and made a banner with his name on it. Should have traded it in when the government was giving away our money for the clunker program.

Sorry, but if I'm going to write Ford for a free car, it will be for me.

I was thinking cash for clunkers to, but didn't wanna say it was a clunker LOL.

There has to be a time when repairs outcost the worth of a vehicle. Pretty much anything will last 500K with money put into it. I mean if the battery takes a dump I would consider getting rid of it

Yes, 10W-30 PYB.

Wow, for the entire mileage?

About a quarter on from 1Mil on my 83 Silverado with 207K on the clock, all with PYB 10/30 and FRAM 2qt oil filters, wonder if GM will give me a Silverado when that big day comes

Those escorts had 5 digit odometers, right?

Saw a diesel lynx online, 23 years old and only 97k miles, what a waste.

Sorry to say this.... I'm not being rude or disrespectful

but its foolish to think Ford would even consider giving you a car just cause you took care of your Escort and got 1/2 million miles on it.

Yes, changed it every 3.5-4K.

I had heard of MB giving someone a free car a 1 Million miles. 500k is nothing special in the MB diesel world, so I can't get too excited. Sorry.
