I have 2004 Nissan maxima n there been problem with Nissan engine when is get after 80,000 miles people having issue with noise with startup but is not timing chain but it's valve tapping noise for maxima 2004-2008. I belive n this is my 2nd motor.

Anyway I can do anything before valve noise get started. I wanna make engine alive as possible by the way I'm spraying nos plus oil tech tld me to used any 10w40 oil for my car.

I've translated your message to the best of my ability, for people who have more motivation to answer it. Unfortunately, it still reads like something that has been run through babelfish:

Good evening, gentlemen!

I own a 2004 Nissan Maxima. As some of you may be aware, there appear to be widespread issues with 2004-2008 Maxima engines after 80,000 miles have been driven. Those affected by this problem report noises at initial startup, but, contrary to what you may think, it is not caused by the timing chain. Rather, it is attributable to the valvetrain.

I am a believer and this is the second motor that I have had installed in my car.

Because my engine is relatively new, I would like your advice on what I can do to avoid this unfortunate symptom of a larger design issue, for as long as I can. My vehicle sees severe duty usage with periodic bursts of nitrous oxide gas to improve performance when the spirit moves me.

An oil technician told me to use 10w40 oil in this motor.

Thanks for the translation!!

Usually it is the primary timing chain and guides that cause start up noise on the VQ35DE engines. Although sometimes it can also the variable valve timing sprockets, and secondary timing chains. The simplest way to check for excessive timing chain wear is to remove the rear access cover that will reveal the main timing chain tensioner. If the adjustment seems to be fully extended out of it’s bore – most likely the timing chain and guides have excessive wear causing the problem. This is a big job, I believe around 11-12 hours of shop time.

I would not use 10w-40 oil, too thick, and it will not help with the start up noise, and actually may make it worse, as it takes longer to get to the heads when cold. Use the 5w30 recommended by Nissan. And I would stop using the NOS, the VQ's are stressed enough form the factory, adding NOS will drastically shorten the life of the engine.

Rohan, I've been keenly interested in all the lubrication
related issues Nissan has had over the last 7 years,
and have come to some simple conclusions. If you
want to prevent these problems there are several things
you can do....but they need to be done early in the
engines's life.

1st, change the oil more often and
at shorter intervals than Nissan recommends. Many owners
see the 3700 to 7000 mile OCI in their manuals and then
figure 7000 will be fine if they use synthetic, without
considering the detailed explainations spelled-out in their
manuals describing the driving conditions that require
a reduced OCI. In short, most drivers need to change
their Nissan's oil at a shorter interval.

Second....I sincerely believe that many Nissan dealers
sell customers bulk oils that just aren't a good combination
with the Nissan VQ 6 cylinder engines.....or use Mobil 1 and
tell the customers to go 7K between changes. I like Mobil 1,
but it just doesn't produce good numbers in the Nissan
6's.

The variable valve trains on the VQ engines are tough
on oil....especially the new VQ37VHR VVEL.

I've had great service and performance from two VQ35s using
Rotella T-syn with a 4-5K change interval. I've seen
and heard story after story like yours from folks who
have used "dealer bulk" and Mobil 1 in their engines for extended intervals.

I've noticed that guys who rev these
engines above 3 thousand RPM repeadedly when not under load
will accellerate issues like you descrbe....or worse.

The Nissan 6's do really well with ester in them. PP and
GC gets good results in the VQ35s for many drivers too. Hope this helps

sorry! thank for helping me. I'm not good in English.

The valves have probably never been adjusted, so the clearance should be checked. I believe you have shim type adjusters, and this is much more difficult than simple screw and nut types. Get a manual and tools, or have it done. You can always simply check the clearances , however.

A little loose is OK, just noisy. If the clearance is .005"or more over the widest factory spec, then I'd adjust them.

BTW, don't take the Grammar Nazis too seriously.

I had reasoned that it wasn't your first language. It's not an easy one to master. We rarely get it correct even when we're born here.

*Applause*

I have 3 years of spanish under my belt so if I was feeling motivated enough I probably could have worked out most of it on my own lol.

You can use 10w40 in your engine, however, i'm not sure it would be a benefit over 10w30. If anything, on a DOHC engine, i would think 10w30 would work better, getting to the top end faster.

If you want something a little thicker, i would use a high mileage 10w30, like Castrol high Mileage 10w30 (in the green bottle) or Valvoline Maxlife (in the red bottle).
