Need an opinion on painting wheels

With there not being a lot of options out there in my part of the world, I was hoping to go with black steelies and center caps on my Envoy. After much reading, turns out there are no center caps to fit the oddball 6x127 bolt pattern.

These are the wheels I currently have on:

I was wondering what opinions would be on:

1. Powdercoating the wheels black and leaving the center caps as is.
2. Powdercoating the wheels black and painting the center cap black to match.

The other option is a titanium grayish color most call "black chrome". I'm just not too big on chrome/silver wheels and prefer having them black, but I'm not too sure how this would turn out. Thanks!

I powder coated my factory rims (F-150) matte black. Since powder coating is 2 hot temp wise for the center caps, I brought them to a auto body shop and $50 thy prep n painted them a semi-gloss black. Looks great (I wasn't sure if they would) and has been durable so far. Have had them over a year.

I've never been a huge fan of black wheels unless it's the base model steel wheels. Too many people go with black wheels.

I would not do black. It makes it look like the car is on steel wheels with no wheel covers, or like a police car.

I would just stick with silver.

How about just black out the spoke part of the wheel and leave the center and outside rim silver?

Last car, used dark grey wheel paint... worked very well, very durable. the dupli-color product is excellent, cures very hard, though it takes a week to fully cure.

for style points, leave the edge masked as a silver ring. the oem finish is still stronger, and that prevents chewing of the paint as weights are installed/removed.

Black never stays black... and i thought the grey looked better. and when it is clean, if the rim is black-er than the tire, that's not right either... you create more hassle than it's worth, at least for me. also, it is frustrating and "cheap" to paint a wheel, only to have it chip/scratch/flake, and constantly have to touch-up.

That is an excellent point!

Although I've always opted (and sometimes paid extra) for stick on weights. Hammer on weights should have gone the way of the dodo bird long ago IMO.
