I have very light oxidation happening on my roof only. Barely noticeable, unless you directly look at it closely.

What Is a good product i can use to get rid of it?

I have waxed the car but the Oxidation is still present.

Would using polishing compound hurt the paint in any way, or in the future?

I dont want to make the paint any worse or spread it.

I have read lots of threads and it seems that Meguiars Ultimate polish will do the trick. Any expirence with this produce?

Which is best for Slight oxidation and swirls marks Ultimate Polish or Ultimate compound?

Oxidation is just on the roof while swirls are all over the car. So i need a product that is safe to use all over the body that wont rip off the paint or clear coat.

Sort of but its no where that drastic.

The "faded" spots go away when ever it get wet. But there is no flaking of any kind.

And if i saw correctly i rubbed the white area and im pretty sure it was going away with a hard rub.

How do i tell the difference B/W oxidation and clear coat failure?

Early stages of paint failure, methinks. Try something that specifically says "fights oxidation". Meguiar's ColorX is available locally.

+2 You can try Ultimate compound but the clearcoat is so thin that it might just put the last nail on the coffin. Try a decent cleaner wax and consider a new paintjob if the car is worth it.

Seeing as how you live in Texas I would say the clear is the problem, I live in Oklahoma & have worked in the auto body business for 21 years and I have seen this a lot especially dark colors.

OK. how do you go about differencing clear coat failure to Oxidation? I wound think clear coat failure would make the surface rough no? this is smooth and the white patches go away when its wet.

Not in the early stages, if you take some fine compound on a cloth and compound a spot that is white, what happens? If it polishes out fine, if not look for other options. Hope this might help.

It's definitely serious oxidation, headed toward clearcoat failure. At this point, no reason to baby it or nurse it. I'd bust out the compound and see if you can't remove most of the dead layer of paint.

You'll know the clearcoat has failed when you see checking or early stages of peeling. All you can do now is try to revive what is left of the clearcoat to maintain its looks.

It's just a matter of time before it starts to come apart so do what you can with it.

I would not use Ultimate Polish. That's more of a glaze, instead of a true polish. I've used it on occasion and it's also difficult to remove.

You might want to try something with less cut than Ultimate Compound first and see how the paint responds. Do you plan to do this with a machine or by hand?

Years ago I used Black Magic to remove that oxidation from my 1986 black El Camino. It's used by professional shops.....I followed up with Simonize Carnuba wax. Oh, baby. Made it look like you could put your hand into the paint.
