Need a power steering pump for my 92 Oldsmobile.

My power steering pump on my Oldsmobile has started to leak more from the seals, and it's time to buy another one. I think I could install a new seal kit, but I am not going to mess with it, so I have decided just to purchase a rebuilt pump.

I will not buy a rebuilt Cardone pump because I have had just too much trouble with them over the years. Pickings are pretty slim. I can choose rebuilt from Lares, ACDelco Professional, ATSCO, or BBB Industries. Not sure which one to buy, but the rebuilt ACDelco would be my first choice, but I am not sure about the quality, and it might be a Cardone with the ACDelco name. Which rebuilt pump would you guys choose?

Maybe auto zone would be your best bet they should have a liftime warranty. I don't remember who makes them but between the lifetime warranty and the ease of replacement that may be your best option..I agree with you that Cardone is hit or miss.

Cardone or Atsco has a good chunk of the reman power steering business. As much as I have a disdain for places like Autozone, they might be a safe bet for the warranty - I had a DOA Cardone pump from the local parts house.

Just looked at the Duralast at AutoZone, and it is an ATSCO rebuilt pump. Only three reviews, but they were all bad. One reviewer said good for practice changing power steering pumps.

Looks like the MasterPro pump at O'Reilly is a BBB rebuilt pump. Looks like a rebuilt ACDelco too. Going to research a bit more to see if I am right.

If you can find the OES water pump supplier - chances are it will be a good pump and even if that brand didn't make the OEM pump, they might rebox the OEM pump(Aisin does this on Subaru and Nissan applications). Most of the non Chinese ones like NPW/Hepu/Graf tend to be good.

It's all about the bearings, the Chinese can make good bearings - IF they're made in a factory owned by a foreign supplier.

MasterPro pump at O'Reilly is a BBB Industries rebuilt power steering pump because the BBB and O'Reilly part numbers are the same. Other than pictures of a rebuilt ACDelco that I saw on the RockAuto website that looked exactly like a BBB pump, I can't find any other information that the ACDelco is in fact a BBB rebuilt pump. Reckon I will buy the MasterPro pump since I can return it locally, and it does have a limited life time warranty.

GM dealers don't sell a quality rebuilt P/S pump for your car?

Anyway, what I look for is the paint job on the pump. If the pump is just carelessly sprayed and the paint is flaking, it is a low quality part that can't be expected to last one year.

New GM genuine pumps are no longer available for my Oldsmobile.

RockAuto does have a new DNJ pump without reservoir for $130.79 plus shipping. DNJ engine components I think is supposed to be fully assembled, and tested in the USA from global parts. I have never heard of them, but if it's a good part I would buy it. Anybody know anything about DNJ engine components?
