I hope this is true, because as the problems of this country and world progress, we'll need a lot more invention.

If there does not come a time that we can prevent many diseases rather than treat them, there is going to be a much larger healthcare crisis.

If we cannot improve life, rather than just extending it, what's the point?

Groucho,
prollem is that we already have means to prevent a LOT of disease...healthy, natural diet and exercise, and a lot of our suffering wouldn't be.

The problem with everything today is overpopulation. If we could get rid of all these freeloaders, I would sleep a lot better at night. (just a little dark humor, I'm only kidding

Everything will be ok Groucho, I promise.

Shannow,
I agree with you. Why should any of us pay for the failures of others? We all know that excess is bad, no matter what the subject is. Eat healthy and exercise more.

Healthcare relies on diseases treatment, not prevention. It is more profitable to treat patients and have recurring business rather then preventing or completely curing illnesses.

Yes, many health-related things are under one's control, but I wonder how many drugs and technologies haven't had chance because they actually helped...

When healthcare, and that means medicare, takes up too great a portion of GDP there will be a dollar value on human life and all healthcare will be rationed.

The wealthiest will have the greatest advantage of course, but even money cannot buy healthy immortality.

Go-go gadget want creation! There's no such thing as having more than you need folks (ask I.G. himself). Just think, without my "Pasta Express", I would have to boil water and then cook the pasta in the pot of boiling water (the stupid neanderthal way)! With science on my side, now I can boil the water and pour it over the pasta in a plastic tube, to cook like it should.

Can you imagine all the poor souls without one? They probably don't even know how miserable their lives are, pitiful little darlings.
