Napa Silver not Napa ProSelect...

Anyone have a Napa Silver autopsy?
I've googled it and found the Napa Pro Select, and Napa Gold, and Napa Platinum.

But I cannot find any of the "Silver".

Just put one on my 2002 Ford Taurus and it seems to be doing well.
Seemed to be a similar build to the Prolator Classic, however may be made by Wix.

Anyone?

Never took one apart, but I've used the Napa Silver previously. Never had an issue with them. You are right, they are similar to a Purolator Classic. I probably wouldn't run them past 5K.

They are the same as the Pro Selects. The Pro Select is just the commercial version.

I said that a few months ago and someone jumped all over me. Thats what I heard from a NAPA guy, so, I tend to believe it.

While the construction is similar, the Silver is Napa's second tier filter while the Pro Select is the value brand, lowest price filter.

The Silver now advertise using a nitrile combo valve, combination adbv and bypass. That said, it seems 'some' applications like the one in the link* may still have a separate adbv and thread end metal bypass. The latter seems preferable to many here. Below that see the Napa advertising youtube of the Silver filter that shows the use of a combo valve.

Why is that exactly. Does your engine have deposits that load the filter quickly or is their some data you would like to share showing us why the filter isn't able to run past 5k.

When I worked at Napa they only had Gold and Silver. Gold was the good filter and Silver the economy( still good ). When the Pro Select came out( after I no longer worked there )no local Napa stores had the Silver any longer and I was told they replaced them with the PS. I didn't see the Silver anymore on the Napa website either.

I went and looked just now and they once again have Silver filters. I wonder if they really stopped making them and now are again or if they did all along and no one knew it?

Yeah the Green is weird and I can't say if they are all green. Iirc there may have been a few different color combo valves advertised. Not having purchased or used one, I can't say what color is most common, but many black combo valves been posted here with dissections.

I dunno maybe Wix managed to design one that works. I can tell you Champ Labs has not.
