Napa Pro Select Oil Filters

I've used the ProSelect in the past, and I still do. If I'm changing the oil in someone else's vehicle, the ProSelect is the filter that I use. (I use NAPA Gold filters on my Silverado, since I use AMSOIL synthetic and change it only once a year).
My mechanic of 20 years uses them on every oil change.
A quality filter that is made by Wix, at Wal-Mart off-brand price. I've cut one open, and they are very well built on the inside, the same construction style as the Golds.
There's no need to look any farther for a good, solid filter.

I like them. I use their 1040 on my mom's '03 Chevy Malibu and my sister's '01 Daewoo Leganza. I cut one open after 3k in the Malibu and the pleats were all bent up, but it's hard to say if it's the filter's fault or not. I'll cut open the next one at 5k and see if it looks the same. Can't beat the price really, keeps me from going to Wal-Mart.

My local NAPA store is 10 feet off the highway that I use to get to and from work. The Pro Select filter is on the shelf that I pass as I go to the cash register and I simply pick up the number as I walk by. The NAPA store is NOT short-staffed like the Wal-Mart store and I don't have to wait in line for 5 minutes, even if I would go to the Express line. My local NAPA dealer sell the Pro Select filter for $2.59 where the Super Tech filter is now $2.87.
I will not knock the quality of the Super Tech, as I have used both filters with good results, it's just a no-brainer for me.
My local Oreilly's store has the Microguard priced to where it is not comparable to the Pro Select or the Super Tech. For my good car I have stocked up on the Motorcraft that I've caught on sale at Autozone. YMMV.

I was just at NAPA today and the Proselect filters were only about 50 cents less than the Nascar filters, so it doesn't really make sense to go for the Proselects for such a small savings in price.
It may depending on application and location. The Pro Select for my car is $2.02, while the Nascar Select is around $4.50, and the Gold is $6.50.

Actually, I have no use for the NASCAR filter. I don't care for little marketing gimmicks like the name and the "spin flow".
Either I want a silicone ADBV (Gold) or a nitrile one (ProSelect). That is my decision maker.

You'll need to check with your local store to get the true price on those filters though. The prices online and the prices at my local store were very different and the Nascar was less than a quarter more than the ProSelect and still under $4 including tax.

When I worked at Napa back in the late 90's they didn't have the ProSelect option instead of the Gold. They had Gold then Silver. The Gold then, just as it is today, was made by Wix. The Silver line was not Wix made( can't remember who they said made it )but I guess in years after I left they did start making them. I wonder if the ProSelect is a new name for the Silver line or if it is all new?
