On a good clean motor running synthetic oil would you run a Napa Gold filter for 7,000 mi oil change? Also as far as price for performance ratio how does the Napa Gold stack up with other filters out there?

No, I would not ...

I would run a Napa Gold (Wix) for about 2x that distance, on a clean running motor with synthetic.

For a 7k mile OCI, I'd run a conventional lube and normal filter, given a "clean running engine". And that's not just conjecture; I've actually run multiple long OCIs (10k and 15k miles back to back) on Wally's ST conventional oil and basic filters, and my used oil analysis results came back fine, and the filters were absolutely acceptable upon disection. It was done on my wife's Villager van, and used in about as harsh "soccer mom" style stop-start, mixed driving as you could ever imagine. The used oil analysis and filter photos are here on BITOG as proof.

Admittedly, you've given us little to go on; we don't know the engine, the history, the severity of use, etc. However, presuming your "clean running" engine is well cared for, and the realization that "severe" really isn't as horrid as the OEMs would have us believe, I stand by my statments above.

Yes - the Wix/NG filters stack up decently to other similar products on a price/performance level. There are not exclusively excellent, nor prohibitively poor. They fit well into the market niche they are offered.

Just so you know, Wix filters are only capable of filtering 20 micron particles at 50% efficiency.

That means that out of 1000 particles entering the oil supply, 500 of them are staying in the oil !!

That's only the full synthetic WIX XP or NAPA Platinum filters.

The WIX and NAPA Gold filters are 95% @ 20 microns (Beta 20 @ 20u).
