NAPA Full Synthetic

I just picked up a case of Napa Brand 5w30 Full synthetic for $2.95 per qt. I am running this in my 04 Hemi Durango with about 5K miles. Does anyone know anything about this product? I have been to two different Napa stores and both told me that it is made by Valvoline. It is brand new to Napa and this is the cheapest I have ever seen a full synthetic oil, I just hope it is Valvoline, it carrys all the right certifications on the label.

I bought some last year for about the same price and was told it was Valvoline oil.

A few months ago I got the NAPA synthetic for $2.69 a quart. I later called NAPA and asked for tech data. They gave me a phone number which led to Valvoline tech people. Here are the few specs I obtained on several NAPA Synthetic oils:

NAPA Syn 15w50 / 18.42 / -33 / 248

Valvoline techs told me it is not the same as Synpower. Here are the Synpower specs for the first two (no Synpower 15w50) from the website tech sheets:

Synpower 5w30 / 10.84 / -42 / 242
Synpower 10w30 / 10.89 / -42 / 250

Appears to be slightly different.

Interesting if you pull up NAPAonline and click on NAPA oil (they only have the basic oil on the website) then click the MSDS for a particular grade of NAPA oil, you get the MSDS for Valvoline All Climate. However, that does not prove it is exactly the same as MSDS's are fairly general and two slightly different oils likely could share the same MSDS.

Sounds like a decent deal all in all. Walmart's Supertech "full" synthetic is a group III and runs $2.36/qt in the 5 qt jugs is the cheapest I've seen.

I think Motorbike has a VOA of the Napa full synthetic on the VOA board.
