I recently noticed that the local Napa store had 5 quarts of Napa Synthetic Oil and a Napa Silver filter on sale for $19.99. I'm not big on using house brand oils. Is it a quality oil? What OCI would you recommend?

IMO, Napa full synthetic is good value when you can get it on sale for ~$3.49/qt.

I've been using the 5w30 and 5w20 for a few years now.

I run the 5w30 in my Subaru for ~7K miles.

I plan to follow the OLM in my new Grand Caravan and run 5w20 in it as recommended, but I'm not sure I could go 10K miles!

I ran the 5w20 in our Honda Odyssey per the oil life mon, which was usually 6-7K miles.

Does NAPA's house brand synthetic clean well? Hard to pass up for $20, but am hoping it could clean up a slightly varnished engine.

If you want an oil that cleans well, I would suggest Pennzoil Ultra if you can find it locally. When you can find it at Walmart, it is about $26 for a 5 quart jug. If you cannot find PU, I would suggest Pennzoil Platinum which is a little easier to find in my area.

Here is a comparison between Napa synthetic oil and its big brother Valvoline Synpower: Comparison

These oil analysis results are back in 2008 but it should not have changed much. Except for the amount of some additives...they are basically the same thing since they are made by the same manufacture. They both give an excellent protection to the engine according to the report.

Napa silver oil filter = Wix filter. Wix oil filters are better than average quality filter.

$19.99...you kind of get the filter for free.

Just bought 6 quarts of the NAPA Full Syn for my next oil change. It even says that it is dexos1 compliant on the bottle but does not feature the dexos1 logo. I opted out of the Silver filter and paid a few extra bucks for a gold filter.

Are you still under warranty? What are your driving conditions? If it's mostly highway driving, you can do 10k no problem.

Not a bad call on the gold swap, supposively some of the silvers have a 1 peice adbv/bypass. Golds are great, especially for a longer oci. Did the same thing for the kia went with 0w20 for the winter, 5w for summer, hard to argue with the price. IMO go 7500 and see how it looks, if under warranty still follow the mfr suggestions. Good luck
