So im gonna dump the factory fill at 5k. She's got 2.8k on her now. I got 4 free oil changes and tire rotation for 2 yrs 24k from the dealer who will b putting which ever dexos oil is on hand in it. I fot a flyer n the mail last week which has napa Full Synthetic on sale 4 $3.49 a quart. Looks like 0/5w20 is dexos approved. Im trying 2 decided if i should do the free dexos oil change or have bring my own oil and put the napa in. Could i run the napa Full Synthetic the full OLM? Here in KC we have wild temp swings and i want a good oil for my car.

Also this engine is GDI. Thts another reason i want to run Full Synthetic.

Dump it, NAPA syn is fine, and a good value on sale. If you have the 2.5, run the 0w20.
Here is a snip from the owners manual..(misleading to me as written, calling out a 0w30 after talking about the 20 weights. The first paragraph is the subject or topic, subsequent paragraphs describe the topic... basic 4th grade English)
Use SAE 5w30 viscosity grade
engine oil for the 2.0L L4 engine.
Use SAE 5W-20 viscosity grade
engine oil for the 2.5L L4 engine.
SAE 0W-20 may be used as an
alternative.
Cold Temperature Operation: In an
area of extreme cold, where the
temperature falls below −29°C
(−20°F), an SAE 0w30 oil may be
used. An oil of this viscosity grade
will provide easier cold starting for
the engine at extremely low
temperatures.

Spend $20,000 on a car, then want to choose one oil over another because the oil change will cost $5 less in the end LOL

Dump now, buy whatever you think is best for the car.

Yup 2.5 (great motor)

Haha I buy the cheapest stuff on sale for my car, but it's an old beater! The oil currently in it cost $2.00 for all 4 quarts of a Chevron Supreme HM

Yes, dexos approved in both 0w20 and 5w20 (as well as 5w30)

Nice i mite stock up for a couple oil changes. Napa syn is rebranded Valvoline synpower right?
 
I'd take the free oil changes if it's not inconvenient. The dealer will be putting a quality oil no matter what bulk they use because it will be dexos1. 4 oil changes in 24k means only 6k per OCI which can EASILY be done on dexos1 oil.

Then once you've used up your free oil changes, go ahead and put whatever oil you want (that is dexos1 certified of course) from that point on.

car sits 2 [censored] low to run it up on ramps 4 me 2 do it at home. I could do it at work but I gotta pay for an bottle oil
Change service. I got a dealer 2 blocks from work and I pass by the dealer I bought the car from everyday 2 and from work.
 
Take advantage of the free oil. Synthetics are better, but not better enough to refuse free oil from your dealer, especially with low OCI. Most likely they are using semi-synthetic anyway. After that, do whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy

Go with the dealership changes. Nothing wrong with free from the dealer. Just be prepared for them to want you to buy extra stuff.

No, it is made by Ashland/Valvoline and the add packs are pretty similar too, but there is a difference in the quality of the base stocks. Not that there is anything wrong with the Napa, it does very well but it is not simply relabeled Synpower.
