I just installed a "duralast" transmission mount and wasn't all that impressed as I had to dremel a hole wider to get all the bolt holes to line up.

Are Balkamp mounts a good alternative to OEM? They seem only a bit more expensive than duralast.

Thanks!

What vehicle is it for?

Do any of your local stores have them in stock? You can check stock for many, but not all, stores on the NAPA website. If any have it in stock, you could go take a look.

I think the old convention is that NAPA has better grade parts, but I don't know how true that is anymore. NAPA seems to have a lot of Chinese stuff these days. But, I still do buy things from NAPA. They can get parts that some other stores cant' get.

Actually I am looking for all three of the vehicles in my sig. The pickup is the most dire at this point, and was the vehicle to receive the transmission mount, but that only made it obvious that the motor mounts were shot as well.

I am planning on doing a order online/pickup at store deal because I doubt any store would stock so many different mounts.

If you are planning to order online why don't you use rockauto? They have all different kinds (including OEM) and will ship them to your house. Plenty of discount codes also.

I agree that NAPA used to stock great parts but like all auto stores they are falling into the trap of Chinese parts.

I do most of my shopping at rockauto and have been very pleased with the service and options.

I got two motor mounts from rockauto not to long ago. They fit well and seem better than original (more rubber). made in china, but what motor mount isnt. I think the brand was Anchor.

plus it was less than autozone even after shipping.

If that is true then I would just go with NAPA. If you are a AAA member you get 10% NAPA

Anchor mounts are sold by Rockauto but IIRC one of the parts houses (AZ?) has a lifetime warranty on the same part thru the store while rockauto has less. Something to consider if pricing is close.

Yes, the duralast one I got does have a lifetime warranty. Thank goodness one of their starter rebuilds had a lifetime warranty, I have had to replace (free) it three times now on my honda. Luckily a very easy change, not so much with motor mounts.

I'll check out rockauto as well and see where I can get the best part for the best price. thanks...

I have never been impressed by ANY aftermarket OE replacement engine mounts. I would buy them from a dealer unless Beck/Arnley has them.

Now there are good aftermarket engine mounts..... When you want to swap a better engine into a car, and that kind of swap is popular. Things like a 350 V8 in a Chevy S10 or a B-series engine in a Honda Civic.

If it's a car you care about, get the OEM mounts. They have the right type of rubber for the job and will transmit less vibrations, last longer and fit perfect.
