This is about an old American western series from the '50 and maybe '60. A stranger, a Jack of all trades, who is suffering from amnesia is traveling through the post Civil War era (probably) southwestern (probably) USA. He keeps three peach pits that have some meaning in his pocket. What's the title of this series?

I think the 'Rifleman' [Chuck Connors] played that part.
He also had whip marks on his back.
But those shows kind of run together at this point in my mind.
