my way of things

I think we both took things the wrong way. But in all honestly 01rangerxl I really don't care if you think I mean my apology or not. Or whatever it doesn't matter. I tried to make it right. I think you were wrong and I still do as a matter of fact I know you are about the gvwr but you didnt want to listen you were as close minded as I was.

I was "wrong," yet on the first page you get your definition of GVWR and GCWR from me. That kind of attitude is what people get tired of around here. How exactly are you trying to make anything right by starting another nonsense thread? I didn't even care about it anymore once the last nonsense thread was closed and my posts were cleaned up.

I saw I am at partial fault and that's not good enough .I am on several forums and this is the only one I ever has issues on. I am to blade partially but I think its also the sarcasm or rude or plain insulting behavior of other members that is also to blame. But instead of admitting that we are just going to make comments about ne. I am grown up its only in here that there is ever an issue. That has to say something.

This board has, in general, the largest group of well-read, mature and educated individuals of any of the forums I belong to. This likely holds true for you as well.

What that means is that you will have people question what you say. You will have people challenge your opinions and statements. And if you can't back these things up, you WILL get hung for it.

I recently had what I would consider a heated debate on a topic here, a debate that went far, FAR further south than any debate you've ever been in on this board. Heck, likely further south than the cumulation of every thread you've ever made.

I made a post that mentioned a story and a number that was part of that story that had quite obviously been dramatically enhanced for effect by the person who told it to me. I was asked to back-up that number, despite its origin, and foolish me, decided I could at least find some references to what he had spoke of. Now, in doing so, managed to dig myself into a hole so deep that it resulted in me being basically called a Nazi.

Unpleasant.

However, I continued the discussion, despite its direction, and was eventually able to come to a civil conclusion with the person who had taken me to task over this number. We were able to find common ground and ultimately resolve.

Why am I telling you this? Because you continue to insist it isn't you. Even in this thread, which was supposed to be an apology from what I gather, you continue to try and shift the blame.

I have news for you. Sometimes it IS you. And that is what I am trying to illustrate with my example above. Had I instead given a few literary references to the topic, stressed that it was a STORY and that the numbers were exaggerated and STUCK to that and stayed on topic, the discussion would not have devolved into what it did. The language would not have gotten as foul as it did, and the topic would not have gotten as uncivil as it did. But, I didn't do that. I chose to argue instead of clarify and that ultimately resulted in a lot of typing that really shouldn't have been necessary to ultimately defend ME, and who I am on this board, MY identity because I had just betrayed it with my stubbornness.

If you really want to continue partaking in discussions on here (and you seem to) the best thing you can do is work on your delivery and response. This means working on your English language skills. The better you can communicate, the clearer your points are. The more illustrated your examples, the less frustrated you will become because people will be able to understand what you've said in entirety, not the fragments that happen due to poor expression.

Nobody is trying to drive you off this board. But you need to look at what many, MANY people in this thread are telling you. When there is a common thread in a string of train wrecks, one must look at that thread as the potential cause. In this case, that common thread is you. Your threads have historically trended in the manner in which your GVWR thread ended up. This is no coincidence or mere streak of bad luck, no. It is the result of you taking a position and defending that position at all costs, even if that position is quite obviously wrong.

You can't do that on a message board. The entire purpose of this medium is discussion. You can't partake in a discussion if you are unwilling to entertain the idea that you might be wrong. If you want to express your opinions without being questioned, use a diary

If you can truly take the message of this thread to heart, I think honest and valuable discussions can be the result.

i am not trying to blame others. i clearly said i am at fault but others are as well sometimes and they should be held accountable. a lot of times they are and sometimes they are not. i think people take what i say out of context a lot which is still probably partially my fault. awhile back i was compared to carnoobie. it was just because i was young. it was offensive. its stuff like that , that makes me defensive. i work hard every day of the week and make my own way and i shouldn't be compared to someone who doesn't. especially when the comparison was on how foolish and irresponsible i am. i am really not that bad. i do have a tendency to argue but usually it in the intentions of learning not being mean. however i dont like being called names. i think that's fair. i want to be treated as a respected part of the forum, i have to earn that respect but calling me retarded or a troll isnt going make me a nice guy.

You have my respect for posting something like this. Most people would not want to admit when they make mistake or the possibility that they make mistake (that includes me).

To be honest it is quite normal to react that way in disagreement, but reality is it doesn't matter whether an argument is won or lost, because people with strong opinion usually don't change their mind so easily. So I guess we can all sit back and chill in disagreement.

Your apology would carry a lot more weight if you weren't still trying to get in the final word against 01rangerxl. No one cares who was right except you.

Just let it go.

So which is it? Are you not trying to blame others, or should others be held accountable because they are at fault? The further you go with this the more you contradict yourself.

If you don't like what someone says, don't return to the thread-it really is that simple. Don't worry about what others might call you, don't worry about what others might think of you (by the way, they're all signs of a massive inferiority complex). Have your say in the matter, but know when to end a conversation. Know when a conversation begins to deteriorate, and simply leave it like an adult.

Or continue to allow people to goad you into saying things you may regret. The choice really is yours.

QFT. How we react to things is the only control we have here.

That's absolutely true. However, in the end, you can only be responsible for your own actions and address how you deal with things. You can't "fix" other people, at least not readily or reliably.

If I get caught speeding and complain to the officer that plenty of other people are speeding, and probably speeding worse than I was, my statement most certainly will be correct, but it's not going to get me anywhere.

We all mess up and type rude stuff and it usually comes or may come from a [censored] home life or something stupid happens at work. The one thing that comes to mind is the on going word fights over a certain oil filter in here that upsets a few posters, but out of a population of 300 million, their view point is nill, imho.
