Valvoline Restore & Protect is very expensive where I live, it has to be imported and costs about $60 for a 5-quart jug.
Q1: My car has 93,000 miles so I am expecting medium deposit level. Can I replace the oil filter only without draining the valvoline r &p in the sump? Will I just lose the oil contained in the old filter and be able to top off that amount afterward?
My car requires 4.25 quarts, so after the change, I’ll still have 0.75 quart left in the jug.
Q2: What’s the best oil change interval in valvoline r&p treatement to avoid clogging the filter?
I have always changed oil every 5,000 miles using full synthetic for the entire 93k mileage of my car
My plan with Restore & Protect is to perform three oil changes to achieve full cleaning:
1st change: after 3,000 miles
2nd change: after 5,000 miles
3rd change: after 6,000 miles
This schedule accounts for faster deposit buildup during the initial cleaning phase.
