no way bad batches like this got out. A lot more people would be complaining, they don't make the oil one quart at a time you know. Plus, something could not be this off, and still have it pour normal.

Someone f'ed with the oil and returned it. It's not motor oil, can't be. Look at it.

The OP seems to be intent on accusing XM for this. Notice all the YT videos showing the M1 jug and the connection to sludge.

Yup, he needs to stop claiming this is M1, the only thing Mobil about it is the bloody bottle.

Just send Mobil an email explaining the situation with a link to this thread and your YouTube channel, instead of conduction all kinds of "experiments".

If they can determine it's their fault by the lot number on the jug then you have a case. They may want more info from you, and probably a sample of the goo.

i don't think the guy is slamming mobil 1, just stating what he thought it was when poured in.

maybe call ghostbusters, it's slime.

He needs to watch out what he's claiming not yet knowing exactly what caused this, because if Mobil perceives it as false information claiming it was their fault he might hear from their lawyers. Companies take this stuff on socisl media pretty seriously.

There are some voices of reason here …

This.

He's placed no blame whatsoever. He's doing all he can within his power to get to the bottom of it.

Bingo, this message board would be filled with similar complaints against XOM by now. I say the oil [if it even was oil as we know it] was tampered with and certainly not something out of XOM.

Exactly and we may never know what really happened unless the remaining product is tested in a lab to determine what it is and its components. I doubt the OP is willing to fund that. It would be great if M1 did but we would never know the results as they likely would not release them.

As for WalMart, I thought I had read here somewhere that they were changing their oil return policy. Can anyone confirm?

They should make all oil sales final with no returns to keep the low lifes from playing their return games.

TY. Initially I had the fear that it was my engine leaking the coolant into the oil causing this. After the UOA I am now relieve that it was not my engine that caused this. (Also super relieve that they did not detect high metal content).

Some of you make me out as a jerk to attack XOM. Not my intention. Heard great stuff about their oil and used exclusively M1 since I had this car. Do I blame them now.. well now I do.
I think I got a defective product from them however unlikely it is. If you bought and open a can of Pepsi and it tasted wrong, who would you blame? As far as I am concerned I opened a sealed container that with werid stuff going on with it. Why in the world would I submit a claim to XOM if I did not. I would invite their engineers check this out. I do realize that their suit might contact me. But it is better than getting stuck at low level (no offense) customer service.

If I used Purple power or some other brand and this happened I would take the same actions.

Let's imagine if I never said the brand up to this point, what do you think the number one question would be?

Interesting indeed. Are there any small punctures on the jug? Some low life with a needle removing and replacing the oil if they have that much time on their hands? Would retain the original oil seal on top. Then they maybe seal with super glue or something

Ask the guy who got jailed cause he claim his Toyota accerlerated by itself and killed people. Everyone said he was nuts and they sent him to jail. Only 3 years later he got release.. I do hope if this happen to others they can find me and speak up.

I will take a another inspection of the bottle. I do realize there is pure evil out there. Hopefully a chemical engineer can tell me what type of chemical can cause oil to do this.

If I had a sample I would totally send it in for analysis! The Toyota dealership near me no longer accepts any fluids refunds. Bad for me as I like to purchase more than I need to get the job done.

Im starting to think its xom’s fault. If the foil was still on it had to have come that way. I was thinking about how the foil could be glued back together and i think its near impossible. I doubt you could pull the foil up without tearing it. You literally have to poke a hole in the foil to get them open and even then the foil is super hard to get off the edges of the bottle.

How come you're not in direct contact with Mobil by now?

100%
Get all your facts in line before assigning blame. Be it direct or insinuated. Not meant as criticism, just a warning since social media is taken seriously by these companies (as stated before).
