My oil change set up with ramps

Good Lord that is my biggest fear.Adding 6 quarts of oil with the drain plug laying on my precious carpet!
I honestly do not remember. I tried looking it up on my charge card with no luck.
If I recall, somewhere around $500?
I meant to ask, are they aluminum? They look it.

I got my rhino ramps when I had my miata. They were the only ramp that provided enough bumper clearance for that ground hugger to get up on. Yes they're only 6" or so in height but that suffices for oil changes on all my current vehicles.
Those are really nice ramps. Pricey too. I've been using Rhino plastics for about 15 years, replaced my old ones 2 years ago. Never a problem, knock on wood. The new Forte poses an interesting problem with using ramps. For whatever reason, Hyundai decided that the drain plug now goes on the front of the pan on the 1.6T. This leaves a lot of oil in the engine when it's up on ramps. Vacuum extractor to the rescue.

I have an extractor that hooks to the air compressor and produces vacuum.

I screwed together four 2” x 12” boards after cutting an angle on each end. Then screwed on a tire stop at the front end. For $20 they have work well on all our Volvos.

I've been using these Race Ramps for my Hellcat for the last seven years (they were cheaper then). The 4400 lb. vehicle hasn't deformed them one bit. After draining a while, I jack up the rear to level the car and drain a few more ounces. I let the jacks down before getting back underneath.

I never trust any one possible failure point. I use ramps, plus jack stands.
When I was young and stupid, I used a scissor jack, that's it. One day I was fighting with a CV shaft. Got out from under car and went to look for a tool, headed back to car and scissor jack had folded in half and car was sitting on the rotor........
Scared the Sh76t out of me.....I learned quick, gladly, not the hard way. Still sends a shiver down my spine 35 years later...........
I'm on my last cycle of plastic ramps, I keep for 10 years and buy another. I've had no issues. I am going to make my own out of 2x10s or 2x12s in the future.
I sometimes wonder in events like this that an unseen angel was sent to you and and whispered in your ear "I need that one tool,I'll go get it". And we unknowingly attribute it to our own thoughts.
Been using these for a couple years with no complaints. Rock solid!
