With my new job, I lost track of time on my pops Olds 88. Was supposed to change it by January 10th (6 months) or 5,000 miles. That's my new standard oil change interval. Oops - it went 8,000 miles on Chevron Supreme.

It actually feels somewhat liberating that I'm not even the least bit worried about it! Much of it was highway driving. I used to freak out if it went over 3,000 miles.

I'm seriously considering stocking up on $3.99 Pennz Platinum and extending intervals on a regular basis.

Chevron Supreme is a stout oil, but 8k on any dino would freak me out personally. Even though theres a 99% chance nothing bad had happened.

I have an uncle who used to work for Preston trucking company before the went belly-up. He had a two hour commute both ways 95% highway and he ran Pennzoil Yellow Bottle 10w-30 dino in his Caprice for 11,000 mile OCIs. The car had 250,000 miles on it when the body gave out and he drove it to the scrap yard.

I was recently in a quick-lube place to have an e-test done, and got talking to the guy siting beside me. He was in getting an oil change on his Dodge pick-up, and I ask how ofted he gets it changed. He told me every 2 to 3 years! I was shocked and asked have many miles he has on the truck, he told me 450,000KM so far. He does use synthetic oil though

A guy thet I used to work with had a 1.5 hour drive one way to work, he changed his oil every 10,000 miles with dino Valvoline and never had any problems. I feel that people dont give dino enough credit these days, all of them are jumping on the synthetic bandwagon.

The low SAPS oils make my engines feel like grinding compound is in the crankcase...

Seriously, the car still runs great, the beer tasted good when I was doing the oil change, and the weather was 50 degrees.

Dino's the new synthetic. Ever since they stopped selling the old synthetic.
