My local McDonald's now charges for condiments

I stopped at McDonald's today for a burger. I asked for ketchup and mustard and they said they would have to charge me $1. The same amount I paid for my burger. I noticed that a lot of fast food places around here no longer have the straws and napkins in the dining room; they keep them behind the counter.

On another note; I noticed that toilet paper rolls lost 3/4" off the width. I guess 3/4" off every roll adds up. I only use the center, but if the price keeps going up, I'll start to use both sides and the edges as well.

Absolutely! A dollar?!?! You gotta be kidding me? Maybe they'll charge for the toilet paper you use in the bathroom as well.

John

I remember when restraunts always charged for soda refills way back when, and everyone always got iced tea because that was the only drink you could get free refills on. Charging for condiments should be illegal!

Sily rabbit don't you know the latest fad is conservation? The you pay the same or more but get less kind of conservation. Aka as a jip.

Old news, the McDonalds in the Chicago area have been doing this for a long time. It's because people abuse the free condiments or just flat out steal them.

I was at a Wendy's a few months ago and I saw a lady take about a one month supply of napkins , plastic spoons , forks and straws.

Buy two 99 cent double stack burgers and stock up on your kitchen supplies.

That might justify leaving the condiments, napkins, etc behind the counter but wouldn't justify charging extra for condiments that should be on the burger in the first place.

I don't do much fast food but I'd think if now they are charging for condiments they can also clear the table when I'm done. PLUS if the burger does NOT look like the picture they can have it back! I've already handed a few back that looked nothing like advertised.

I don't believe it as well, but if they truly did that, ask for a burger refund and call the franchise head quarter to complain. They'd probably lose quite a bit.

We travel quite a lot, and are seeing the same thing. And a lot of eating places are keeping the condiments behind the counter now because of this very reason and it's not just the fast food places. One told me that people come in and will steal everything on the table. Salt & pepper shakers, naphin holders, ketsup bottles and even the flower centerpiece. One lady even took the tablecloth. They chased her out the door and made her give all the stuff back. Now they'll probably get sued.

I've eaten a mcdouble and an order of chicken nuggets over the last week and none of this was the case...

I'm glad to see that I am not the only person offended by misleading advertising. I too have handed back food that has materially less content than the picture. I point to the picture and say, "That is what I paid for, that is what I want". If it is an instance where the meat is so small as to be hard to see (a taco, for instance) I have on occasion told them there must have been a mistake, I didn't order the vegetarian version.

you notice in the drive thru, they don't give you ketchup for your fries. you have to ask for it.

That is what I was thinking. It is already on the burger so they already gave you ketchup and mustard. I have no issue with places charging a little extra for "extra" stuff. When I order a BigMac at Mc'D's I always request extra sauce. I have no problem paying the 30 or 40 cents extra for it as it is extra above and beyond what comes on it.

I agree with those saying this is in part due to the people that steal restaurants blind on salt, splenda, sugar, napkins, etc... It is shameful the way some people just load up on that stuff. They spend $3 on a burger and then walk out with $20 worth of supplies for their home.

our local Mickey's charges for extra condiments. I guess the chicken mc nuggets crowd will order a small and ask for one of all the dunking sauces. today I ordered a sausage biscuit for breakfast, a whopping total of $1.08. I asked for a strawberry jelly.(try it, its better than it sounds) and the lady manager handed me 6 of them. One would have sufficed, then they wonder where there profits go.
