My friend bought a new Cybertruck

There's an article out about a moron contractor who's saving $20k per year in fuel with a Cybertruck. It's like, yeah, you could do that. Or you could not drive a Dodge Ram that gets 9 mpg.

Even doubling the fuel economy still would cost vastly more than charging an EV. Now if you need to tow a lot further than possible in a Cybertruck then it's more than a financial cost issue and it's worth the cost of fuel.

Some people love attention and I think that's the Cybertruck's best quality.

Strange coincidence, I saw one for the first time today, it drove past me on the highway going the opposite direction. I had to do a double take because it was a maroon-red color, but it had to be a Cybertruck because you simply can't mistake it for anything else. Somebody had it vinyl wrapped is the only conclusion I can come to.
It's quite common to wrap a CT. I understand Tesla is offering to wrap 'em fresh from the factory for about $6,500.00. Aftermarket shops will do the job for less ...

I believe there was another style of wheel cover that was recalled, it had special tyres and the cover was recessed into the tyre.
Yup, those covers will be rare and collectible in the future. Apparently the cover was rubbing into the sidewall of the tire.

Ah yes, I see on second look that the tire design and cover design is a bit different. At a quick glance it looks like the original setup.

Looks uglier the more I look at it.
Yeah, same here kind of.
I’m pretty open minded on the looks, even in my past posts I kind of liked it.
Yet just now looking at the photos I’m questioning why I did/do.

If I’m going to spend on that I’m much more in love with those tasteful HUGE, Loaded with factory options big tires/running boards and a nice big V8 pickups (possibly even a diesel) from GM or Ford
I’m in love with those things, and the cabs set up like living rooms. Maybe it takes me back as a kid with Tonka trucks? But the real thing.

Lucky because I won’t ever spend the money on any of them because a hot girl in the passenger seat will cost even more 🙃

I saw one in tow by a Ram pickup yesterday on my way back from the Hamptons. Ugly is a compliment imo, but in the USA will still have the right to waste our money as we see if. We should be thankful for that.
My wife's parents used to have a beach house in Bridgehampton. Lots of great memories out there. I'm not at all shocked to think there are quite of few of these out there. Ugly is a compliment but that said as long as the people who bought it are happy...

Nice! I can't say if the owner of it is happy or not, it was in tow, but he might have been transporting it. I get dragged out of retirement from a good friend from time to time, always to work for some very wealthy people, in some impressive houses, this one was on the Peconic Bay. I always enjoyed working in the Hamptons when my business was in full swing, but only after the summer. Too much traffic during the summer when schools are closed.

I don't understand many of you guys on here. I saw one of these trucks on the road and they are not for me, even if I could afford one. But I'm not pissing on anybody that can and do buy one. Good for them. They can do whatever they want with their money. I dont care why they buy it, it doesn't affect me at all. Do you all think differently about the owner of a Ferrary or a Lamborghini? Good for them also. How about the dually pickup trucks grocery getters that never tow anything? Do you scrutinize their owners the same as you do owners of electric vehicles? It is all the same, their money, they can waste them any way they can and it won't affect me one bit.

I am truly thankful that in this great country of ours we still have choices and means to do what we want. Let's enjoy the freedom and the choices we have while we still have them, without demonizing other people for theirs.

I drove one back in March (and mentioned it here), when my cousins nephew bought his. It was one of the first ones sold. I enjoyed it. But yeah, it drew a lot of attention, which is not my thing, or for the owner. But he rolls with it, and the attention is decreasing as they become more prevalent.

So are they using it as a regular vehicle? I imagine it does OK at that? Or is there anything particularly impractical?
I guess most people who don't tow far or at all with a 1/2 ton would be fine with these if they can handle the charging aspect.

I mean that's how 99% of vehicles on the road are used today too, full size trucks included.

If you're asking me, he uses it as a truck. He's towed, hauled items, and commuted. I saw him recently, and he's still happy with it.
