About 5 years ago was when I retired, It was also the beginning of the pandemic. Yearly trips to the eye doctor only resulted in little to improve my vision. He existed to sell glasses. My last set of glasses from him were +2.5 over +5.5 bifocals. When I retired I considered that I may lose my vision. One day I noticed that my fancy designer daily vitamin had no Lutein or Zeaxanthin, or other vitamins known to aid vision. My first step was to get a daily multi with Lutein.

During the pandemic eye vitamin supplements were practically being given away. The Nature Made brand was about 10¢ a pill (usually 40¢) so I tried them. After 60 days of use my vision became clearer and better focused, with noticeable reduction in halos and sensitivity to bright light first thing in the morning. Less eye crud also in the morning.

Over the last five years it has been a slow slog to get to where my vision is now, slowly improving over time. About a year ago I switched to the Ocuvite brand, half the price of the Nature Made Vision brand at current prices. They work well also and have a better additive package in addition to the Lutein and Zeaxanthin, so to speak IMO. Through continued use for 5 years I can be glasses free if I choose. Thirty year habits are hard to break. Even went to the DMV to retake the eye exam, I passed.

Please note this is not medical advice, simply something I tried and it worked. Nothing ventured nothing gain.

My mom has had my brother and I taking Lutein for years since my dad developed macular degeneration. Can't say that it's improved my vision but it might delay onset if either of us are likely to get it.
