Good Evening Board,

For fun I thought I would list my first three (3) bike I owned:

1. 1980 Honda 400 Hawk
2. 1980 Honda 750F
3. 1982 Suzuki GS1100e

When I bought my 750F, I desperately wanted to buy the CBX, but just didn’t have the income to do it. I loved my 750F, and then a friend of mine came over on his GS1100e, he let me ride it, and 3 days later I bought one.

I am hopelessly addicted to motorcycles!

I am editing my response, I initially thought your Z1 would stomp my 750F, but after further review it would be close. The Z1 quarter times was 12.2 to 12.6; my 750F was 12.5 in the quarter. I will assume you are the better rider, so victory to the Z1 & GMAN. 😀

On the other hand, my Suzuki GS1100E would destroy the Z1 with a quarter mile time of 11.10 to 11.20. The Zuke’s were Kawi killers. 😀

My favorite firsts:

1981 Honda CB750F Super Sport, silver, blue stripes. I would motor right past those Z1s when they started their high speed tank slappers 😁

1982 Yamaha Seca 650 (XJ650), silver, blue & white stripes. Dinner plate sized headlight.

1992 Honda CBR900RR, original red, white and blue. Holey fairings. Super light weight.

These were the bikes that shaped my riding love and moved me into road racing. Ah, the good ole days. *sigh*

My first 3 were:

!970 Ducati Monza junior
!975 Triumph 750 Bonneville
1976 Kawasaki Z900

There have been a few more since then but I've just let the last one go after a no fault accident that wrote off the bike and badly broke my wife's wrist. You don't bounce so well after 70. I miss my bikes but I still have the memories.

1968? Wards/Benelli; got for free with what felt like absent steering bearings and a broken nipple on the carb; exhaust tied on with a rusted coat hanger; pre internet for databases and pre knowledge for me but who was going to say no to a free bike. Held onto it for a couple of houses as a teenager with intentions to tinker and sold it to my neighbor who hung it from his workshop ceiling as art. There was a metal tag on the fork to call MW for parts and such; I called to see if they have historical info and the lady on the other end was very confused when I told her they used to sell motorcycles. It would make for a nice addition and cool to ride the mountain roads with that two stroke making a little smoke.

Also briefly owned a CL360; no title and more work than I was interested in so I put it up on a pool game with a buddy who liked to make shots with his eyes closed to show off; no longer my problem!

Current fleet:
2014 KTM 1290 Superduke R
2013 Yamaha FJR
2006 Suzuki DR650
1994 Yamaha FZR600r (the project in waiting and my first running bike, I put about 60k hard miles on it)

Three late 1980 Yamaha Maxims - 550, 750, then a 700. Haven't had a motorcycle since 1992.

I will never ride a motorcycle again. Was on my bicycle in 2013 and saw a brutal motorcycle accident. The guy was doing something stupid and doing it very fast, then lost control. I was the first one to get to him, got traffic stopped, and talked to him. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He was missing a massive amount of skin and muscle and even his helmet had holes rubbed in it. I talked to him until he lost consciousness and I watched the life leak out of him. There was nothing I could do but watch. When the police and EMS got there I gave a statement and rode my bike 13 miles home. That was a long ride.

Honda 400 CC was the first bike I ever rode. My friend bought one, it was around that time but I think more like late 1970's It wasnt a "Hawk" based on the color scheme in your photo. I clearly remember it though, first ride that feeling of freedom left an impression on me.
I like the whole parallel twin thing and why I like many of the Triumphs though I have a Road King I wouldnt mind a new one for the experience of something different before I give up riding.

1976 Honda 360
1980 Kawasaki 750Ltd
2006 Harley Sportster 883

I miss them all but mostly the Harley. Riding a bike is a feeling I've never felt in a car.

My first three starting at the age of 6, were a Honda Trail 50, Yamaha YZ80, and Honda CR125. All before the age of 16. The first streetbikes were a Honda 750F Super Sport, Honda V65 Sabre, Yamaha FJ1200.

My favorite bike of all time is this old big-bore stroker hot rod, which I try to keep looking close to stock for sleeper purposes. 😁

A couple days ago on a two-up ride with the wife (who also started riding at the age of 6), at a high mountain lake which is just emerging from it's layer of winter ice.

That 1st gen Hayabusa is a long ways from stock, although I try to hide that it is not stock by keeping the reflectors on, rear fender stock, etc.

I also have a completely stock 3rd gen.

A cousin who I ride with regularly has a '20 ZX-14R, we swap bikes frequently. The 'Busa feels more like a big sportbike, while the ZX-14R feels more like a lighter sport-tourer. I prefer the former, but it's all a matter of opinion.

Suzuki dealers have demo trucks that travel the country, so you could potentially test ride a new Hayabusa.

Scroll for dates and locations: https://suzukicycles.com/Events

I didn't find any mention of a Kawasaki demo ride tour. Although a dealer might allow a test ride.
