My car has 307,000 miles. Change oil regularly. I like trying new oils. To Restore and Protect or not🤔

Did you buy the car new (or with low miles)? If so, I'd keep doing whatever you're doing to have gotten over 300K. I've got over 260K on a Caravan I bought new and have no need for any gimmicky oils. When I had the valve cover off about a year ago, you could eat off the valvetrain.

If you just bought the car and it's a sludge monster, different story altogether.

Our Accord is going to hit 310k sometime this fall. R&P is going in at that time. Not because it needs it, but because that's the one oil I picked to use in everything. I don't care to keep different oils for different cars, so I usually pick one that works for the vehicle under warranty (The 2025 F150 Hybrid) and everything else just gets that as well.

In this 307k miles, you’ve used several different oils? If so, it seems to have worked out ok. Try something different if you want, it obviously won’t hurt anything. OCI interval is the biggest factor here.

With that said, this Valvoline Restore and Protect is a witches brew that does miraculous things according to others. You might change it out a bit earlier than before since it “may” fill the filter with 307k worth of deposits left behind from all of those inferior oils that you used for 307k. 🤔

Seriously, at 307k, I would do what I’ve been doing.

After 307K, you should be telling us what to do, not asking.
What's your oil choice history with this car?
If you've used a variety of different oils, then why not try R&P?
It won't hurt and it might clear up the minor oil use.

If it were my car, I'd run Valvoline Restore and Protect in it for the next three oil changes. See if it does anything to reduce the oil burning. I would think it would fit right in with the rest of the oils you have used.
