....that I have two new fully functional rear brake calipers. Last week I found out my rear wheels were locking up and both calipers were shot. In neutral, my car was not moving at all. Took it to the shop and found out they were both in need of replacing, including the brake lines.

I also ran a bottle of the new Amsoil Engine flush for 12 minutes, and re-filled with Mobil 1 0w30. All is good now.

Rear calipers on Honda's are horrible. I have seen 08's with rear calipers failed. Nissan and Toyota trail Honda in rear do-do calipers.

Glad you got it all fixed up!

You use Engine Flush in '05 Honda engine ? Isn't Honda engine supposed to be spotless for 300k miles with 10k OCI with any dino ?

I bough 2 bottles Lubegard engine flush to use in 250+k miles '94 LS400, the car had been using both conventional and synthetic with 6-7k with dino and 12-13k with syn. One or two times it got 2+ years OCI with M1 for more than 25k miles. The engine has no sludge but a little heavy vanish can be seen though the fill hole.

I'm not sue about using Lubegard engine flush in the '00 E430 with 11x,xxx miles. I may use 1/2 bottle if I feel venturous.

I had to replace the original calipers on my 2002 Nissan this spring. It was still drivable, but they were dragging a good bit.
It was right on schedule for this type of car.

Your car is also stick shift. I'm sure you use the e-brake often in which that helps keep the integrated calipers adjusted/working. Of course your experience will vary

.

I have yet to warp a rotor on any of my cars. Yet I replace rotors, calipers left and right on cars like mine.

Maybe I am missing something.... but he never mentioned he has a Honda.

Don't forget a Honda isn't as good as a German car.

I do use the e-brake, you should or it will seize. (at least in salty road areas) It is very common though. My fathers' 2000 Maxima had the rear calipers replaced 2 or 3 years ago as well. Automatic trans.

How much road salt do you drive in, and for how many months out of the year?

Oh, look where you live... Never mind.

Calipers seem to be hit or miss on longevity. We have vehicles with 17 yr old calipers with no issues and I've seen others very young with major issues.

I have 136k on the car and we have had a really bad winter this past year. I was kind of surprised they were shot. Never had to replace calipers before on a car. It's made a huge difference though.

I would have guessed that the Amsoil engine flush and the Mobil 1 0w30 would have eliminated the brake problem,,,

LOL...

The difference is really noticeable. Brakes were really dragging the car down.
