My Auto-RX Experience

Hi all...

I'm wondering whether ARX had any effect at all. I followed the directions for the clean phase (new PureONE oil filter, dumped 10oz in my 5qt crankcase with 1500 miles to go before change). Had the oil changed for the rinse phase. I'm now 1,000 miles into the rinse phase but the oil is still golden/yellow. Shouldn't it be dark by now?

Anyone else had this experience?

BTW, the car is a 94 Camry V6, 199,xxx miles, 3k-4k OCI with 10w30 since birth.

When I used it, the oil didn't really trun dark at all. However, Auto-RX removed the varnish on my dipstick like it was buttah.

Check your filter, check under the oil cap, and check the dipstick. Just because nothing magical happened doesn't mean that it doesn't work. If you are hardcore pull off the valvecover and take a look under there.

Before and after compression test is a good idea IMO.

I'm not saying it hasn't worked, just that my experience seems to be somewhat different from others. In many of the posts I read before trying the product, users described the rinse cycle as producing the most visible signs of cleaning. Since my rinse oil still appears to be clean after 1,000 miles, I'm curious. I also wanted to make sure that I hadn't screwed up the application somehow.

The only visible signs I have that suggested something happened under the covers was the erosion of a thin crusty residue under the oil cap, and the fact that the oil has remained clean.
