I got her running tonight i bought a carburetor for it paid 16 bucks for it put it on and she runs like a top. I still need to change the oil. The self propell works great and the blade is almost new.

I really like the way the engine sounds and it start on the first pull. Just as easy as the Honda did but it's a 1996. I have a little bond with this thing from tinkering with it and what not it was a fun little simple project and I am happy I pulled the trigger on buying this little thing.

Hope you get many more years of service out of it!

Messing with a carb on a small engine can get old fast. Sometimes it's easier/faster to throw in the towel and buy a new carb than keep tinkering with the old one.

I was always warned to avoid the Eager and Tecumseh engines on lawnmowers. Never actually had one just listened to others that did. For what you have in it though you can;t go wrong.

I have always had good luck with the Tecumseh engines. My kids go kart has one. It doesn't give two sh.... what you do to it.

Good on you saving it from the junkyard when it still had plenty of life left in it. Hope it gives you good service for many years to come.

I'm assuming there is a pic that my stupid 'puter won't open.
Good luck to you sir. I stopped buying lawnmowers 20 yrs ago. I have a few Toros from the 80s and 3 or 4 70s' 24" snowblowers. I dont have a parts sitdown, but I can get stuff at Parts tree. Pricy, but top quality service and righteous parts for 40 yr old orphans. I spent 50-75 $ a yr in new parts. Last yr, it was drive belts. This yr, it has a new set of blades, and 2 gallons of Universal Hydraulic oil. The '77 IH Cadet 80,36" deck has been mowing since '01. It had a new B+S 11 HP flathead put on it and then was left out for a decade. The frame and front axle are very stout. No folded sheet metal here. It does the yard in 45 minutes. I use a Toro 21" walk behind for close work. I intend to keep it running forever. When I go to fix a part, I either replace or re-make. Yes, it has baling wire and duct tape. But less and less as time goes by

I owned one of those for about 12 years. Great mower. I gave it to my neighbor when I moved about a year ago. Still ran great.

For my own knowledge can you tell me why? I don't know that much about them in all honesty.

I have that same mower. I bought it new around 1997 and have worked it very hard mulching lots of leaves. It still works great. That Tecumseh has out performed a much newer Craftsman with the equiv. Briggs engine.
