Mine also looks brand new, except that it already leaked twice. :)

This car spent the first 6 years of its life in Florida, so maybe that has contributed to more heat exposure.
 
OMG now I see why it's called the ultimate driving machine! finally got to drive it "spirited" way, and when my wife drove it, she had this ridiculous grin on her face, which was so funny look at... she found it so exciting that "it can go so fast while turning a corner and it goes exactly where I point it"

...best description ever.

I must say the ZHP exhaust note is intoxicating

Yeah. I think the current generation 3-series is very boring. I much prefer the previous generation which is what 97tbird bought here.
 
I agree - the current series just looks so "bloated", and doesn't look lean anymore.
Did Bangle ever had to do anything with the E46 or E39(I suspect not, judging by the good looks of them) or was he only involved in the 7-series?

Looks like not the E46 3-series, perhaps...E9x is listed, though.

Nope - I am blind - he did take part in E46 design:

at least he didn't put a Bangle Butt in the E46

You should get MityVac 7201, it is both extractor and pump. If you careful you can change oil and filter without a drop of oil on the garage floor. MityVac 7201 can be bought from Amazon for about $72 with free shipping, it pays for itself after 3-4 oil changes.

Happily those days are behind us. And let's hope we don't go back to "wishing" for those days with the new direction of styling.

Though bloat is common in all cars. Compare any camry, accord, etc. with the version from 10 years ago.

But bloat was really the driver for me going with a 1 series - it is nearly identical in dimension with my E30.
 
I like the bangled designs. It brought an air of freshness to the otherwise outdated and stodgy BMW look. Unfortunately, they are going back with the new 5 series but the interior has still retained its modernity.
 
The "outdated" look is classic on BMW and MB lines. Lots of other manufacturers have tried to replicate, none successfully.
 
I don't want to get into a pointless discussion about what is classic and what is outdated but you are right. There is a classic look that a family of cars should retain. BMW, Mercedes and Audi have these and no matter what generation the car is, you can immediately tell what it is. Few other makers have been consistent in that manner and among these 3, there have been major faux-pas models as well.

Bangle did not change the family traits in BMW and you can tell what is a BMW and what is not (well, maybe except for the previous generation 5 series).

Disclaimer: personal opinion follows.

Personally I think the 3-series went from being uniquely BMW to being extremely generic looking for the small 4-door sedan segment. Maybe that's from other cars copying BMW, most likely it's BMW trying to capture larger market share. In my opinion the older (up to E46) BMW's look a lot more "BMW" than the E9x...

EDIT: Just t onote, I still like the 3-series, but the styling has become a lot blander as time has gone on.
