Twenty years ago when I had to go to a district court, I was all dressed up. Alas, I still had to pay the speeding ticket.

Well, it is still in process. I have another court date. We will just say it has to do with a no-visibility situation and me not stopping where I should.

Sweatpants are considered dress up in some neighborhood. I've seen way worse.

Dallas and Ft Worth are only 30 miles apart, but in my experience they couldn't be more different in Justices of the Peace.

Ft Worth is much more conservative and seems to be more organized. Dallas? There are no specific statutory or constitutional provisions that apply to being a JP in Texas. Dallas seems to have a problem with corruption at the County Commisioner level and it seems to have trickled over to the JP level. The law. Civil Procedure and Due Process are ignored.
I would be a better JP than many of the Dallas JPs and I don't feel like I'm qualified for the job.

The few times I've had to be in muni court I've been sartorially eloquent. It sure helped out. The judge threw the book at the person rocking out on their CD player, while I fared better. Being polite and well-dressed helped make the best of a situation I got into through my own stupidity.

Wow, I think you can gather quite a bead on society from looking at what you find in such public arenas, sadly the US is looking more and more grim and debased everyday.

What it tells me is that the US is now only a polyglot, not a nation, fractured and unstable, moving ever increasingly towards a shambles.
