Muffler Shop needed Buffalo NY

The rear of my 2004 Toyota RAV4 sounds like I need muffler work. Any recommendations? I'm in the city near Cheektowaga/West Seneca border.

Checked online Toyota OEM and astronomical prices for parts , then labor on top of it, so dealer is out.

I'd suggest consulting Yelp or whatever. See what's highly-rated.

A couple of guys I work with have gone to this place in Kenmore.

Reviews online look good. When they went in, the guys there told them the issue and fixed it without saying "Oh you need to replace the entire assembly". I guess one guy here had a hole in a pipe after the cat, so Mufflerman just replaced a section of pipe instead of saying "You need X, Y, and Z".

I've never been there but I've heard good things about them from people.

To update my post.

I've examined the system and it looks like the flanges that connect the muffler to the center pipe rusted and the pipe separated from the muffler. The muffler and center pipe look good. I used coat hanger to tie them together temporarily.

I see they have flange repair kits.

My research also directed me to the mentioned Muffler Man on Delaware Ave. I'll probably try them. They open 9:00 am Friday.

Very well! I have used them since '74 with decent success but, I understand your feelings. I don't particularly care for Midas or Monroe.

My Review:

Muffler Man, Kenmore NY 5 out of 5 stars

Told the man my problem and he said they could weld new flanges if piping is good. He examined and claims system looks good all over , except for the noted problem and it will cost $88.00 plus tax.

Took about 20 minutes for a fix. I examined by mirror when I got home and excellent. They used stainless steel material and TIG welded it.

Cole/Midas/Monroe would say it's not our system and sell me a new muffler and middle extension pipe, with soup can metal thickness and I would be back every 18 months.

Also saw they install struts and ask if they wheel align. He claimed they don't but use Walt's garage on 2575 Elmwood in Kenmore, NY. Got my own struts and if I install myself I use the place for the alignment.

NOTE: checked Car Quest, Advance and Auto Zone for the repair kit I saw on the internet and, no luck.
