Here is some info I came across regarding the lawn mower and snow blower manufacturer, MTD. Stanley Black and Decker owns MTD and they also own the Craftsman name for the lawn mowers and snow blowers. Stanley Black and Decker has MTD make their Craftsman units. MTD owns Troy Bit, Owens and Club Cadet. MTD also has a joint venture with the small engine maker that makes Powermore engines. It’s common to see a Powermore engine on anything MTD makes. Feel free to add any recent changes in the ownership chain.

Off the top of my head MTD ODPE brands include:

Cub Cadet
Troy Bilt
Columbia
Remington
Dewalt
Yard Machines
Yard Man
MTD Gold
MTD Pro
Huskee
Bolens
White Outdoor Products
PowerMore Engines

They also have private labeled for large retailers over the years, like True Value, Ace, JC Penny and more.

Craftsman since 2017 and Sears Craftsman with the .247 or .316 Prefix

Their product has been produced by many more names than one can list here.
My first lawn tractor was a MTD, labeled and sold by Coast to Coast Hardware.
It was $700. at the time for a 11.5 Horse Briggs.
Inherited it when my Dad passed away.
Ran that thing for 7 years, doing nothing to it except for OC's, a couple of plugs, and a battery.
When the motor blew during year 7, I still got a $100. for it on trade for a new Deere.
It basically is throw away equipment, but in the right configuration can present a lot of value.
For a simple lawn mower with a deck and 4 wheels, the value is there.
Use them up, and move on.
I still like the Craftsman blower I had over the more expensive Stihl I bought to replace it.
Should have bought another.
