msconfig and regedit

I have a Dell with Windows 8.1 Every time I need to use the System Configuration, I click on RUN and a white box appears. If I type-in either msconfig or regedit in the white box, it never stays worded there. I could close the box and need it again a half-hour later and anything I type-in that white box vanishes.

Is there a fix for this, being I never had this problem with my old Windows XP.

Mine stays(8.1), I use MSconfig and Temp all the time they both stay.

My 8.1 system does keep the previous command. Strange. Sorry I have no advice for you.

Thanks anyways.
I just noticed an error in my original post.
The affected computer is my Toshiba Laptop, not my Dell desktop.
