MP3 converter- exists as shareware or free?

I have 12 MP3 files that I'd like to record to CD. As I understand it, the MP3 format won't play on the average CD player, so I need something to convert it from MP3 to WAV(I think that's it). I assume this is not included in Windows XP/Windows Media Player. Does anyone know of a free shareware source for something like this, or a a trial version that will allow converting 12 files instead of 10. If it makes a difference, these are fairly long files, ~30 minutes each.

there is apple itunes. they have a windows version...

i would think that if you have a cd burner you have software that will burn a standard cd. look in "preferences" or "tools" or "options" in the cd burning section. it should give you the option to burn a normal cd.

how about using the built in windows media player included with windows xp? it works, its free, theres no popups or downloading required.

Winamp and the disk writer plugin rocks. Or you could just burn it with Nero, it will convert for you before it burns them.

Thanks to all who replied. Boy, do I feel like a dummy!

The Windows Media just converted on its own, without having to change any settings, & produced a playable CD. Cryptokid's absolutely right. The CD I just made plays fine on the car stereo, so all's well!
