I've had snowblowers where the muffler glows red at night and/ or blue flames shoot out through what used to be packing. They continued to run fine.

Metal begins to glow at the temperatures a normal gas engine exhaust can produce when working hard. With it being a straight pipe of thin metal it is completely possible to see the glow and everything be normal.

That's waaaay too hot,
1) carb adjustment?
2) valve lash?
3) timing, (although most are not adjustable any more)
4) is that a straight pipe exhaust? if so, it's not scavenging and either needs to be larger or add a muffler to expand gas and cool it a bit.

It's also running wide open I'm running forward speed as fast as I can go without boging down the engine or stalling the blades.
The carb has the correct jet for this altitude, I put it in my self. It definitely runs a lot better with the correct jet.

Reminds me of my old Cordoba with the 400 lean burn engine. You could see exhaust manifolds glowing at night after coming off the Turnpike.
