I just broke down and ordered Amsoil for everything that has an engine around the house.

Is it OK to jump straight into extended drains on our cars? Both are mechanically sound, burn no oil, and run great. I'm wanting to run my wife's 03 Santa Fe on 1 year OCIs with the EAO filter. My Civic will just follow the OLM until it hits 0%.

Should I run a short OCI with the Amsoil first before going to extended drains?

I'm also going to change out my Honda Z-1 to Amsoil ATF. On my 06 Civic, there aren't lines that run to the radiator. There are coolant lines that run to a heat exchanger on the tranny. It only holds 6 qts total, and when I do a drain and fill I get out 2.5 quarts. If I do 4 drain and fills, one every other day or so, will this get me close to all Amsoil ATF?

Thanks in advance for the help,
Brian

I always run one short cycle before any extensions.

Depending too on how long of an OCI cycle you're trying to run. I would make good sense to do a UOA or 2 to insure you're not getting into any trouble.

less than 50,000 on the vehicles? make sure your air filters are clean and not leaking unfiltered air.
how many miles you think you will drive in one year?
as far as the trans Im not sure that is the best way to swap out the trans fluid.
it might be better to take it to the dealer and bring a camera and take a picture of the look on the service managers face

when you ask him to service the Trans with Amsoil ATF.
they have the proper machine to swap the fluid.
I would not have it done if I cant see the whole process done though.
