Mouse trap season. Which is better? Peanut Butter vs. Nutella?

I used to have trouble with a few mice until I threw some of these under the crawl space of the house. It doesn't matter if they get wet or anything.

Ayup, a few wks ago, I found a trapped mouse still alive in a trap set in the pantry. It was slowly being choked because the trap missed the head and came down on its neck. I took the mouse outside to deal with it. I opened the trap and dropped it on the ground. I expected it to be at least paralyzed. Nope, both sides were working. I don't mind killing them in the snap traps baited with peanut butter. It is quick, usually. BUt slowly strangling (or swimming) for hrs is cruel

NEVER! Kills Raptors and Eagles and Owls! If thay grab a poisoned rodent
I hate to tell you this, but just about every single business and store you walk in and out of every day have rodent bait stations with anti-coagulant type rodenticides inside and out. The US consumes about 500k tons of the stuff every year to prevent disease, property damage and 10s of billions of dollars of crop damage. Getting torqued up about homeowners using rodenticides is not very useful as their likely impact on wildlife is exceedingly small.

Had a mouse problem a few times. Saw some really oddball stuff like being struck right at the eyes. Or one trap catching two mice. I guess hanging around a buddy isn’t all that safe.

I’ve seen mice that were trapped (glue and snap) that were only caught only by the tail. By the looks of it, they basically just exhausted themselves to death trying to escape. I’m surprised that they didn’t just bite off their tails.

Other day, Boston TV reported that a bald eagle was found dying in a cemetary in Arlington. Eating a poisoned rat was suspected cause. I rather let the many predators of the deer mouse get them before they get into my pantry

You are not telling me anything I don't know. This horrendous practice must stop.
Frustrating as I don't know how other than control MY behavior and try to influence those around me.

Bad begets more bad. Just jump off the cliff with the other lemmings. Great logic.

As my dad used to say, feelings are not facts. Rodent infestations are not benign and prior to modern eradication methods, they were the direct cause of the deaths of millions and millions of people and are still a major problem in the third world. Here are some of the serious deseases they transmit.
  • Arenavirus
  • Bartonellosis (Trench fever)
  • Capillariasis
  • Echinococcosis
  • Hantavirus
  • Leptospirosis
  • Rat bite fever
  • Rat tapeworm
  • Salmonellosis
  • The Plague
  • Toxoplasmosis
  • Trichinellosis
  • Tularemia
  • Weil’s disease
  • Typhus

@ARCOgraphite, I want to apologize for my previous comment, as it was rude and uncalled for in the way I said it. You have strong opinions on the subject and are completely entitled to have them without being insulted.
Oh, you were not not that bad, you make good arguments!

Now though that the latest epidemic Humans killed buy Humans spreading disease = 6.9M**

But if we throw away 1/2 of the data it is still alarming and ... nasty.
