18 bucks a liter on Amazon.
If I had a sump full of that, I'd definitely be feeling upscale.
My car would be quieter, accelerate faster, get better fuel economy, and have the cleanest pistons in town.
Making a deduction such as the oil being mediocre based on a $30 analysis as @kschachn says, is naive. The exact chemistry won't even be revealed using a million dollar LC-MS/MS equipment, even then making such deductions would be naive.
I don't have the depth of knowledge that you folks do. Last time I deep dived oil, I ended up buying lots of German Castrol. So it's been a while.
My wife just picked up a MB that says 229.72 is preferred for fuel economy (0w-20....OMG). I ended up with Eco Clean although I was tempted buy a 229.61 since that is 0 or 5w30, since I would rather sacrifice MPGs to get more protection. Or am I wrong?
This car has a 2.0T with water cooled turbos... Which is modern technology vice what we used in the past???
MB says 10k miles OCI but I'll do 7500 miles.
Anywho, curious if you guys can speak to a good/best 229.72 oil or should I buy what I think is a better oil in the 229.61 spec?
