Motul 300V compared to Redline???

After recently seeing Motul v300 uoa and redlines, to me the add pack is stronger with redline. Motul looks like they've reduced some specs to a more car oil CAT standard.

Which would mean if your bike burns oil, your probably better off with Motul. If it doesn't the swing goes towards redline.

BTW I notice Mobil 1's Vtwin and MXT4 10w40, the flash points have dropped more like their car oils, that to me says they have moved to a cheaper base oil.

40 weight oil is a fairly wide spread of viscosity. The RedLine motorcycle stuff visc. 14@100C is fairly heavy 40 weight. I would have chosen that over the 20w50. Plus 20w at startup is to thick IMO. Thicker oil just attributes to even higher oil temp.


I agree... given a choice I always recommend to my customers the lower viscosity stated in
their manuals because flow is inverse proportional to pressure... the more pressure the pump
builds the less flow... flow is what really lubricates our prized engines not pressure... so
flow is more desirable than pressure... not only does it lower the oil temp as stated but
also you don't hit red line before the oil by pass dumps the excess pressure... dumping
excess pressure not only waste HP it retards critical flow... Ideally you want to dump just at or pass red line...
