How does the XO-5W20-QFS full synthetic MC stack up against other readily available quality synthetics (M1, PP, Synpower, etc). Advantages, disadvantages? Do you consider it a good extreme use alternative to the MC blend in towing, heat, etc? Lots of info about the blend (and I think its a fine oil) but dont see alot about this oil.

I haven't seen a VOA on the stuff, but if its better than the Semi-syn I don't see how its not as good as PP or any of the others. It should do just fine in any towing/heat situation you could put it in. I have several quarts of it at home, and am waiting for this next oil change to put it in.

Thats kinda my thinkin too... its just a little odd that with all the never ending debate about 5W20 v 5W30 etc., esp. as it relates to the 4.6 and other FoMoCo OHC V8s that you never really see anything discussed about this oil. Myself, Im cool with 20W personally... just waaay too many taxis and cop cars, etc., out there churnin out the miles to worry about 20W too much) but it seems like this is the obvious choice (if you want to stay MC) for extreme duty or longer OCIs. But you never see anything about this oil... no one ever really talks about it. Im just curious how it stands up (anything special about its additive package, base quality, etc) against the usual suspects and if anyone has any experience to share.

The reason you don't see much of the Full syn is because you won't find it on a lot of shelves and nobody wants to purchase the oil at overpriced dealer cost when they can get PP for what the dealer usually wants for it.

I say send in a Virgin sample then Follow up with a UPA for all of us.

Got it in our expedition right now. Advance auto carries it.

EDIT: If I am not mistaken it is the exact same oil as the Kendall GT-1 full synthetic which happens to be a very good group III oil.

Is there any significant difference between the full and semi syn MC oil? The syn blend is so easy to get since it is available at wal-mart.

I just changed our oil to MC syn blend 5w20 in both vehicles this weekend. They seem to be very smooth on it. It has a very good reputation so far. Bought it at wal mart at a great price as well.

At my local Pep Boys, MC Synthetic is sold for $4.99 per quart. I have never seen how much it costs in other stores.

It is a ConocoPhillips product, so I have no doubts that it is good.

In the N.Y. area Pep boys on L.I. have both the Kendall or Motorcraft , red bottle or black take your pick the are the same as the bottles are. IMO greatchoice. Firestone also has oil change deals that might interest you. Kendall is what they use. But I warn you , watch them do the work.
