I've been hearing good things about the MC filters for the Jeep 4.0. Local dealer is getting $5.05 for them (FL842 or FL300)

Besides the dealership, anyone know a good place to purchase from online?

Buying them online will cost you more in shipping. $5.05 for a Motorcraft from a dealer isn't too bad. Double check that Wally World doesn't have them.

Whenever I have to do a purchase from RockAuto, I'll try to throw in a filter or another small item to see if it will go without the shipping charges increasing. Occasionally, it will work. Otherwise, any savings that you will have on your oil filter will be negated by the shipping charges that RockAuto adds to your bill.

This!

The other two you mentioned are harder to find, more expensive and I don't think they have the "S" designation which means the silocone ADBV, which you want.

If you don't like Wally's the FL-400s is available just about everywhere for 4 bucks.

The shape of the FL-400s is way different but the function is the same, except better!

Your sig says "Southern Canada", so if you're actually in Canada, then your Ford dealer has them. If you actually mean "Florida", then Walmart stocks them at most locations.

I have been using MC FL1-A oils filters on my Jeeps 4.0 engines for years........

Not sure if they are available in your area, but when purchased from AAP using one of their codes, you can make some serious deals on MC filters (granted you may have to purchase them in bulk). I scored some MC FL-820s filters for $.230 each out the door.

LOL I'm in northeastern Montana, less than 60 miles from the Canadian border.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll take a look at the FL400S.

You meant to say $2.30 each, right?

Indeed; the edit timer is too short

. They were $2.30 each out the door.

I gotta check out this AAP thingy. No stores in my area but I can get free shipping if my bill is over 75 bucks? No problem!

I guess I was unaware of the S meaning silicone. I found a link where Motorcraft bragged about the silicon ADBV's.. but ill definitely look into it. I should give the fl400s a try. I just cant get over the fact of how it "looks" smaller. Heck isn't the thing for a ford Taurus?
