Motorcraft filter?

I used to run the over-sized Motorcraft FL1A filter on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6 cyl. I really like the Motorcraft filters and plan on swiching back but to the standard size. Can anyone tell me what the correct Motorcraft filter is for my Jeep in standard size? If I recall correctly, was it was the 820 or the 820S?

It's definately NOT the 820S, that has a metric thread. I believe the FL200 is identical to the FL1A in all specs except it's not as long. My 1996 Contour uses the FL200, though the FL1A physically fits. Though the extra length may contact the front axle in certain circumtances.

The FL300 physically looks the same as the FL200 but I'm sure there are differences, but I don't know what they are. There has to be differeneces. Otherwise why have two of the same filters

. Unfortunately the FL200 is getting more difficult to find on the "shelf". Whereas the FL300 is easily found

Whenever I have questions like this, I typically use the Purolater website to cross-reference various filter part numbers. Then I review the Purolator equivalent filter for the spec's like ADBV, by-pass pressure, size, etc. I found it really helpful. Here's a URL:

Yes, RR .Sometimes I run numbers through Purolator, Wix, Donaldson, and Baldwin..the wix site is a bit easier to navigate and gives more data (typically) Wix


Wix doesn't differentiate between the FL300 or FL200 ..they're both 51068 to them

Baldwin doesn't differentiate them either.
Donaldson has no listing for the FL200
Hastings sees them as the same filter
Purolator has no listing for the FL200

Now a FL2005 is a 3/4-16 filter. It has a slightly higher bypass setting
